Emerging Thrissur recently paid tribute to one of India’s most distinguished business leaders, Dr. A.V. Anoop, Managing Director of AVA Group of Companies. Best known for his stewardship of Cholayil Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., the makers of Medimix, Dr. Anoop has built a legacy that bridges entrepreneurship, healthcare, cinema, and philanthropy. His recognition in Thrissur underscores the city’s pride in celebrating a native son whose work has resonated far beyond Kerala.  

Medimix, the flagship brand under AVA Group, is recognised as the world’s largest-selling Ayurvedic handmade soap. What makes this achievement remarkable is Dr. Anoop’s insistence on preserving traditional manual production methods. Employing a workforce that is 70% women, the company has not only sustained artisanal craftsmanship but also empowered thousands of women across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. This commitment to heritage and inclusivity has become a hallmark of his leadership, blending commercial success with social impact.  

Dr. Anoop’s entrepreneurial journey began when he took charge of the Southern India market. Over the decades, he expanded AVA Group into a diversified enterprise, encompassing Sanjeevanam Ayurvedic hospital, food and personal care brands such as Melam and Kaytra, and six production units across the region. His vision has consistently emphasised authenticity, sustainability, and innovation, ensuring that AVA Group remains a trusted name in households across India and abroad.  

Beyond business, Dr. Anoop has carved a distinctive niche in the arts. In 2007, he founded AVA Productions, a film company that has since produced award-winning feature films, short films, and documentaries in multiple languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Sanskrit, and English. His productions, such as Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha (2009), Ezra (2017), and Ishq (2019), have earned critical acclaim and contributed to the richness of Indian cinema. His passion for storytelling extends to acting, with appearances in more than 15 feature films and over 50 theatre productions, reflecting his versatility as both a businessman and an artist.  

Dr. Anoop’s intellectual pursuits are equally noteworthy. He holds a PhD from the Medicina Alternativa Institute in Sri Lanka and recently published his memoir, You Turn, available in Malayalam, Tamil, and English. The book offers insights into his philosophy of resilience, adaptability, and purpose-driven leadership, inspiring readers to embrace change as a catalyst for growth. His role as Global President of the World Malayalee Council further highlights his commitment to fostering cultural unity and global networking among Malayalees.
