MSP Studios has refreshed the logos of Milena, Monica, Cebolinha, Magali, Smudge and Chico Bento, debuting in No. 1 comic editions now available via Panini Brasil. Art Director Victoria Mingorance called the redesign the coolest job of her life, celebrating a historic moment for Brazil’s beloved comic icons.

MSP Studios in São Paulo has unveiled a striking redesign of its most beloved comic characters, with Milena, Monica, Cebolinha, Magali, Smudge and earlier Chico Bento all receiving refreshed logos. The updates debut in the No. 1 editions now on newsstands and Panini Brasil’s website, signalling a new creative chapter.

For Victoria Mingorance, Art Director at MSP Studios, the project was more than a professional milestone. “It was certainly the coolest job I’ve ever done in my life,” she shared, emphasising her joy at contributing to what she described as a historic moment for the studio.

The redesign represents a bold step in modernising Brazil’s iconic comic universe while retaining the charm that has captivated generations. By reimagining the visual identity of these characters, MSP Studios is not only refreshing their appeal for contemporary readers but also reinforcing their cultural legacy.

The relaunch of the comics in May, complete with the new logos, marks the beginning of a new era for fans. With Panini Brasil distributing the editions both in print and online, the refreshed designs are set to reach audiences nationwide, ensuring that the characters continue to resonate with readers old and new.

The decision to update the logos reflects MSP Studios’ commitment to evolving with its audience. Comics have long been a cultural cornerstone in Brazil, with Monica and her friends forming part of the country’s collective childhood memory. By introducing modernised logos, the studio acknowledges the importance of staying visually relevant in a digital-first era, while preserving the warmth and familiarity of its characters.

Milena’s new logo, alongside those of Monica, Cebolinha, Magali and Smudge, signals a unified creative vision. Chico Bento’s earlier redesign paved the way, demonstrating how subtle shifts in branding can reinvigorate classic characters without alienating loyal fans. The refreshed logos are not radical departures but carefully considered updates, balancing nostalgia with contemporary design sensibilities.

For Mingorance, the project underscores the power of design in storytelling. Her words capture the emotional weight of the assignment: being entrusted with the visual identities of characters who have shaped Brazilian popular culture is no small feat. Her enthusiasm reflects the pride of a creative professional contributing to a legacy that transcends generations.

The release of the No. 1 editions in May is more than a publishing milestone; it is a cultural event. Fans encountering the redesigned logos on newsstands or Panini Brasil’s website are witnessing the start of a new chapter in MSP Studios’ history. The refreshed branding ensures that Monica and her friends remain relevant to today’s readers, while continuing to embody the humour, warmth and imagination that have defined them for decades.

This moment, celebrated by Mingorance as historic, is a reminder of how design can breathe new life into beloved icons. MSP Studios has not only modernised its characters but reaffirmed their place in Brazil’s cultural landscape, ensuring that they will continue to inspire and entertain for years to come.
