Billboard has officially launched its India edition in partnership with Other Side Ventures, marking a significant expansion into one of the world’s largest and most diverse music markets. Headquartered in Mumbai, Billboard India will spotlight artists, charts, rankings, and industry developments across multiple languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu.
The platform debuts with legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja as its first cover star, celebrating his 50-year career and more than 1,500 film soundtracks. Priyanka Khimani, media advisor and driving force behind Other Side Ventures, emphasised India’s multilingual growth story: “Our growth story isn’t from one city or one language. It’s from every corner of this country.” She added that Ilaiyaraaja was the perfect choice to launch the edition, given his unmatched legacy and influence.
Billboard CEO Mike Van highlighted the global significance of the launch: “Billboard India marks an exciting step in our mission, as the Indian music industry and its global diaspora continue to command growing attention and influence worldwide. With a market as culturally rich and diverse as India, this launch reflects both the scale of the opportunity and the strength of the Billboard India team.”
The leadership team includes Preeti Nayyar as Chief Operating Officer, Mohini Chaudhuri as Content Strategy Director, Amruta Ramesh as Creative Director, and Vidya Sivalenka as Charts Lead. Together, they will drive editorial ambition and ensure Billboard India captures the dynamism of both film soundtracks and independent artists.
By blending global standards with India’s unique cultural richness, Billboard India aims to become the definitive voice documenting the country’s music ecosystem, celebrating achievements across genres, languages, and generations.
