BharatPe has tapped seasoned technologist Ajit Kumar as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), signaling a renewed push toward deep tech innovation and platform scalability in India’s bustling fintech scene.

Armed with nearly two decades of experience building and scaling digital ecosystems, Kumar steps into the role after stints at Paytm, where he served as Senior Vice President – Engineering, as well as leadership positions at Snapdeal (Shopo), Times Internet, and SAP Labs.

At BharatPe, Kumar will be at the helm of its technology strategy, driving product excellence across payments and lending platforms, while ensuring the brand’s infrastructure is ready for the next phase of high-speed growth.

“Ajit’s expertise in building robust, scalable fintech solutions—especially around payments and UPI—will be pivotal as we double down on tech-led innovation,” said Nalin Negi, CEO of BharatPe.

Expressing his excitement, Kumar added, “This is a transformative time for BharatPe. I’m thrilled to help craft resilient, high-performance platforms that make digital payments and credit access simpler and smarter for millions of Indian merchants.”

The appointment underscores BharatPe’s focus on strengthening its technology backbone at a time when competition in India’s fintech space is accelerating — and innovation could make all the difference.
