India’s first Startup & Technology Museum will open in Bengaluru by 2027, showcasing the country’s tech and entrepreneurial evolution. Developed under a PPP model, it will feature exhibits on India’s tech journey, major startups, and innovations in biotech, fintech, and AI, attracting tourists and tech enthusiasts alike.

In a landmark initiative, the Government of Karnataka has announced the establishment of India’s first Startup & Technology Museum, scheduled to open its doors in Bengaluru by 2027. This pioneering project is being developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model between the Department of Electronics, IT&BT and UnboxingBLR, with the aim of showcasing India’s remarkable technological and entrepreneurial journey.

The museum will be housed in a repurposed factory shed on the historic NGEF campus in Baiyappanahalli, spanning an impressive 12,000 sqm. This strategic location is expected to provide visitors with an immersive experience, blending the city’s rich history with its vibrant tech ecosystem. The project is estimated to cost around ₹100 crore, with the first phase expected to be operational by 2027, followed by subsequent expansion phases.

According to Prashanth Prakash, Chairman of UnboxingBLR Foundation and Founding Partner at Accel Partners, the museum will be a “phygital” experience, combining physical exhibition spaces with digital, interactive storytelling. Visitors can expect to explore exhibits highlighting India’s tech evolution, major startups, innovations in biotech, fintech, edtech, and newer fields like AI and deep-tech.

The museum’s vision is to capture the essence of India’s startup ecosystem, from its humble beginnings to its current status as a global tech hub. It will serve as a cultural landmark, inspiration hub, and educational resource for students, entrepreneurs, and tech enthusiasts alike. The initiative is expected to attract tourists, tech enthusiasts, and international visitors, further solidifying Bengaluru’s position as India’s tech capital.

Karnataka’s Chief Minister, Basavaraj Bommai, has emphasized the importance of showcasing the state’s technological advancements and entrepreneurial spirit. The museum is part of a broader effort to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in Karnataka, with initiatives like INNOVERSE, LEAP, and RGEP further boosting the state’s startup ecosystem.

As Bengaluru continues to cement its reputation as India’s Silicon Valley, this museum is poised to become a beacon for innovation, creativity, and progress. With its unique blend of technology, entrepreneurship, and culture, the Startup & Technology Museum is set to make a lasting impact on India’s innovation landscape.

The museum’s opening in 2027 is eagerly awaited, and it is expected to be a significant milestone in the country’s tech journey.
