Jagatjit Industries will enter India’s premium whisky market with a single malt launch in FY 2026-27. Known for Aristocrat and Royal Medallion, the company is expanding malt spirit production amid strategic changes, including a new CEO and operational transition in Chhattisgarh, to boost growth and margins.
Jagatjit Industries has announced plans to enter India’s premium whisky segment with the launch of a single malt whisky during the financial year 2026-27. The move, revealed in a recent regulatory filing, marks a significant step for the company as it seeks to expand its presence in the fast-growing premium spirits category.
“The Board considered and took note of the proposal for the development and launch of a Premium Single Malt Whisky in the current financial year 2026-27,” the company stated.
Jagatjit Industries, known for brands such as Aristocrat, Royal Medallion and King Henry VIII, had earlier indicated its intention to introduce a single malt and expand malt spirit production to meet rising demand. The premiumisation strategy aligns with broader industry trends, where Indian consumers are increasingly gravitating towards refined whisky experiences.
The development comes amid wider organisational changes. The company recently appointed Roopak Chaturvedi as Chief Executive Officer to drive growth and transformation. Additionally, the board has approved a transition to a company-operated model in Chhattisgarh from FY27, aimed at improving volumes and margins in the state.
With this move, Jagatjit Industries is positioning itself to compete in India’s evolving premium whisky landscape, where global and domestic players are racing to capture market share. The single malt launch is expected to strengthen the company’s portfolio and reinforce its ambition to be a serious contender in the premium spirits segment.
