PHILIPS AVENT CHAMPIONS STERILISATION WITH YAMI GAUTAM DHAR AS BRAND AMBASSADOR

Philips Avent has launched a campaign in India spotlighting sterilisation as a vital step in infant care. Actor and mother Yami Gautam Dhar joins as brand ambassador. Drawing on cultural traditions of protection, the campaign contrasts rituals against germs, positioning sterilisation as a science-backed safeguard for healthier babies.

For generations, Indian parents have relied on the ritual of boiling baby bottles and accessories to keep them clean, a practice passed down with the reassurance that it protects infants. Yet, despite these efforts, babies remain vulnerable to germs that can cause common infections. Philips Avent is now bringing a science-led perspective to this conversation, urging parents to consider sterilisation as a more effective safeguard.

Backed by a recent survey and real-world evidence, Philips highlights that its Avent Sterilizer delivers up to 2% better germ protection compared to traditional boiling, with fewer reported illness episodes among infants. The campaign positions sterilisation not as a replacement for cultural practices but as a complementary measure, offering parents reassurance grounded in science.

The initiative also draws on a deeply rooted cultural insight: the tradition of protecting children from the evil eye, or nazar. Across India, families have long relied on rituals such as using salt, chillies, or applying a black tika to ward off buri nazar. In modern times, parents turn to bracelets or stickers on social media photos to continue these customs. The campaign film reflects on these practices, acknowledging their emotional comfort while suggesting that they may not shield against germs and infections.

Philips Avent’s message is clear: while traditions provide solace, science offers protection. To amplify this narrative, the brand has appointed actor and mother Yami Gautam Dhar as its ambassador in India. Her presence underscores the campaign’s blend of cultural resonance and modern parenting, encouraging families to embrace sterilisation as a step towards healthier beginnings.
