Canon India has appointed Puneet Datta as Chief Communications Officer while he continues as Senior Director with full P&L responsibility. With nearly 29 years of experience, including 21 years at Canon India, Datta’s expertise in sales, marketing, strategy, and leadership underscores his pivotal role in driving the company’s growth.  

Canon India has announced the appointment of Puneet Datta as Chief Communications Officer (CCO), marking a significant milestone in his distinguished career. Datta will continue to serve as Senior Director with full profit and loss responsibility, reinforcing his dual role in shaping the company’s communications strategy while driving business performance.  

A seasoned business leader with nearly 29 years of experience, Datta brings a wealth of expertise across business development, sales and marketing, channel management, business strategy, digital transformation, and organisational leadership. His appointment reflects Canon India’s commitment to strengthening its communications and leadership framework as it continues to expand its presence in the Indian market.  

Datta’s journey at Canon India spans over two decades, during which he has held several leadership positions. His roles have included Senior Director, Director – Sales & Marketing, Assistant Director – Sales & Marketing, and Assistant Director – Marketing. Each position has allowed him to contribute significantly to Canon’s growth trajectory, cementing the brand’s market leadership in imaging and printing solutions.  

Prior to joining Canon India, Datta gained valuable experience at Emerson Network Power and Ricoh India Limited Sales & Service. These early roles provided him with a strong foundation in technology-driven businesses and customer-centric strategies, which he later leveraged to drive Canon India’s success.  

His core strengths encompass key account management, customer relationship management, product management, channel partnerships, people leadership, and P&L management. These capabilities have made him a key contributor to Canon India’s sustained growth and ability to adapt to evolving market dynamics.  

Datta’s appointment as CCO comes at a time when communication plays a critical role in shaping brand narratives and stakeholder engagement.
