Rajadhiraaj Yatra: Krishna Leela Aapke Dwar, staged in Bengaluru from 19–22 March at the Prestige Centre for Performing Arts, blends theatre, music, dance, and design into a devotional spectacle. Written by Prasoon Joshi and directed by Shruti Sharma, it celebrates Krishna’s journey from Vraj to Dwarka with grandeur and artistry.

Bengaluru is set to host one of the most ambitious theatrical productions in recent years as Rajadhiraaj Yatra: Krishna Leela Aapke Dwar arrives at the Prestige Centre for Performing Arts from 19 to 22 March. Conceived as more than a play, the production positions itself as a spiritual journey, a cultural pilgrimage that brings the eternal saga of Shri Krishna to life through music, dance, and design.

The production is the brainchild of Kalanation Foundation, Hombale Entertainment, and Laughing Water Productions, with Padma Shri awardee Prasoon Joshi penning the script and lyrics. His words breathe life into Krishna’s multifaceted persona: the playful child of Gokul, the philosopher of dharma, the warrior of Mathura, and the compassionate king of Dwarka. Director Shruti Sharma orchestrates this vision with meticulous care, ensuring that the narrative flows seamlessly across Krishna’s transcendental odyssey from Vraj to Mewar, Mathura to Dwarka.

Music forms the beating heart of Rajadhiraaj Yatra. Composers Sachin–Jigar have created 20 original compositions that weave together diverse traditions: Western symphony, Indian classical, Haveli Sangeet, Gujarati and Rajasthani folk, and Hindustani semi-classical. This fusion creates a timeless resonance, elevating the production beyond conventional theatre into a devotional offering. The choreography, led by Bertwin D’Souza and Shampa Gopikrishna, adds dynamism, blending classical, folk, and contemporary movements to embody Krishna’s leela in physical form.

Visually, the production is a feast. Omung Kumar’s sets recreate ancient Bharat and celestial realms, transporting audiences into Krishna’s world. Neeta Lulla’s contribution is equally striking, with over 500 intricately detailed costumes and handcrafted floral headgear that celebrate the splendour of Krishna’s universe. Together, they craft a stage that is both opulent and authentic, a canvas upon which the divine narrative unfolds.

Behind the scenes, the production benefits from deep research by National Award-winning writer Raam Mori, while creative producers Parthiv Gohil and Viral Rachh ensure that every detail contributes to the immersive experience. Executive producer Bhoomi Nathwani has shaped the show into a sensory spectacle, merging theatre, music, and dance into one cohesive offering. The cast, featuring talents such as Balraj Shastri, Varenyam Pandya, and Deepali Sathe, brings emotional depth to the performance, embodying characters with devotion and artistry.

What sets Rajadhiraaj Yatra apart is its ambition to transcend entertainment. It seeks to connect audiences with Krishna’s eternal saga, not merely as spectators but as participants in a shared spiritual journey. The production’s grandeur lies not only in its scale but in its intent: to unite devotion, art, and culture in a way that lingers long after the curtain falls.

For Bengaluru, a city that thrives on cultural diversity, hosting Rajadhiraaj Yatra is significant. It marks the arrival of a production that bridges tradition and modernity, spirituality and artistry. Audiences can expect to be transported into a world where Krishna’s leela is not just narrated but experienced—through music that resonates, costumes that dazzle, and performances that stir the soul.

As the dates draw near, anticipation builds for what promises to be a landmark event in India’s theatrical calendar. Rajadhiraaj Yatra: Krishna Leela Aapke Dwar is not simply a play; it is an invitation to witness devotion in motion, a reminder of the enduring power of storytelling to connect, inspire, and transcend.
