SONY WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS TRAVELLING EXHIBITION OPENS IN TOKYO

The Sony World Photography Awards travelling exhibition opens in Tokyo on 20 June, presenting over 200 prints at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, including works by Joel Meyerowitz. Running until 20 July, with a parallel showcase at Sony Imaging Gallery Ginza, both free-entry exhibitions highlight the finest global photography from 2026.  

Tokyo is set to host the largest-ever Sony World Photography Awards travelling exhibition, opening this Saturday at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum. Running from 20 June to 20 July, the showcase will feature more than 200 prints, including a special display of works by Joel Meyerowitz, recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to Photography 2026.  

This ambitious exhibition marks a milestone for the Awards, bringing together a diverse range of global photographic talent. Visitors will encounter striking works across genres, from portraiture and wildlife to architecture and landscape, reflecting the breadth and depth of contemporary photography. Meyerowitz’s celebrated images, known for their lyrical exploration of light and colour, will provide a highlight within the museum’s expansive presentation.  

Complementing the museum showcase, the Sony Imaging Gallery Ginza will host its annual exhibition from 19 June to 2 July. This display focuses on standout entries from the Architecture & Design and Landscape categories, alongside portraiture and wildlife photography. Together, the two venues offer audiences in Tokyo a rare opportunity to experience the finest photography from the 2026 Awards in distinct yet complementary settings.
