SPINNY TURNS CARS INTO CANVASES FOR INDIA’S 80TH INDEPENDENCE DAY

Spinny has marked India’s 80th Independence Day with a striking celebration of diversity, commissioning 36 artists from across the country to transform cars into moving canvases. Each artwork reflects the colours, landscapes and cultural influences of its region, together creating a collective portrait of India’s journeys and aspirations.

As India commemorates eight decades of independence, Spinny has chosen to celebrate not through conventional advertising but through art that travels. The initiative brings together 36 artists from every corner of the country, each invited to paint their vision of India on the surface of a car. From the mountains of Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh to the coasts of Goa and Kerala, and from the cultural richness of Rajasthan and Punjab to the energy of Delhi and Maharashtra, the artworks capture the nation’s diversity in vivid detail.

The project is not simply about regional art; it is about journeys. For Spinny, a car is more than a vehicle—it is a vessel of everyday life, carrying families, ambitions, memories and milestones. By turning cars into canvases, Spinny allows these stories to travel, weaving together India’s many identities into a single moving showcase. Each design is rooted in a place, yet together they tell a larger story of a nation constantly on the move.

The roster of artists reflects the breadth of India’s creative talent. Sushmita and Chestha from Arunachal Pradesh, Biswajeet from Assam, Anjali from Bihar, Shubham from Chhattisgarh, Rhythm from Goa, Samridhi from Gujarat, Aryan from Haryana, Shreya from Himachal Pradesh, Reva from Jharkhand, Sayeb from Karnataka, Sanjana from Kerala, Vedant Mittal from Madhya Pradesh, Payal Patil from Maharashtra, Vishakha from Manipur, Shradha Bhat from Meghalaya, Sonali and Anshika from Mizoram, Daksh from Nagaland, Priyanka from Odisha, Kshitij from Punjab, Bhavya from Rajasthan, Shreya from Sikkim, Nivi from Tamil Nadu, Indrajit from Telangana, Rathore from Tripura, Riya from Uttar Pradesh, Sagar from Uttarakhand, Deep from West Bengal, Insha from Jammu & Kashmir, Shreya from Chandigarh, Hitashi from Daman and Diu, Shubhangi from Lakshadweep, Mehak from Puducherry, Ariel from Ladakh, Mayank from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Alok from Delhi have all contributed to the initiative.

Each artist’s work is a personal interpretation of India—whether through symbols, colours, landscapes or cultural motifs—but together they form a collective narrative of progress and unity. The cars become more than machines; they are travelling galleries, carrying the spirit of India across roads and regions.

After 80 years of independence, India continues to move forward through its people, places and aspirations. Spinny’s initiative captures this momentum in a way that is both personal and collective: 36 artistic expressions, each rooted in a region, yet together telling one larger story of India.

The campaign’s message is simple yet powerful: the car is the canvas, India is the inspiration, four wheels carry a billion dreams. For every dream, there’s a Spinny.
