TIRTIR TURNS CONCERT RITUAL INTO BEAUTY EXPERIENCE IN NEW YORK

TIRTIR brought its CONCERT-PROOF BAR to BTS THE CITY ARIRANG – NEW YORK, offering fans tailored K-beauty products, exclusive launches and cultural design details. Partnering with Jung von Matt HANGANG, the activation connected beauty, fandom and commerce, turning concert-day rituals into brand utility and extending TIRTIR’s US presence with cultural relevance.

Global Korean makeup brand TIRTIR has redefined the concert-day ritual with the launch of its CONCERT-PROOF BAR at BTS THE CITY ARIRANG – NEW YORK, in partnership with Jung von Matt HANGANG. The activation transformed a real fan need into a live brand experience, connecting beauty trial, Korean culture and fandom.

The initiative was part of ARMY ‘MADANG’ at the Korean Cultural Center New York, a dedicated space for BTS-inspired experiences, cultural programming and brand activations. As the official K-beauty brand, TIRTIR sought to move beyond visibility and create utility for fans navigating the unique demands of a concert day.

Recognising that a concert is not a two-hour event but an all-day ritual shaped by queues, summer heat, movement, cameras and shared moments, TIRTIR designed the CONCERT-PROOF BAR to help fans prepare, discover products and maintain their look throughout the experience. Visitors explored products tailored for long, high-energy days, including the limited-edition BTS THE CITY New York Perfect Setting Duo, sun care and lip products. They also received exclusive first access to an upcoming cushion foundation and venue-only benefits.

The limited-edition duo combined TIRTIR’s Reflect Glow Prep Primer and Mask Fit Makeup Fixer with the BTS THE CITY Arirang Pouch. Inspired by the traditional Korean bokjumeoni, or lucky pouch, the design bridged contemporary fandom with cultural heritage. “Global growth is not simply about putting K-beauty on more shelves. It is about becoming relevant in the moments people care about,” said Sunyoung Erika Lee, Chief Marketing Officer at TIRTIR. “We turned a genuine concert-day need into an experience fans could try, share and take with them, connecting product performance, Korean cultural detail and commerce in one place.”

The activation was conceived as part of a connected purchase journey. Fans could buy the limited-edition set through Weverse, collect pre-purchased products at the event and access QR-based purchasing on site. This seamless model integrated product trial, exclusive access, pickup and purchase, reducing the gap between cultural attention and commercial action.

Following TIRTIR’s participation in BTS THE CITY – BUSAN, the New York activation extended the brand’s US presence with a locally relevant experience. Rather than replicating a conventional pop-up, the concept was shaped around the specific behaviours and conditions of concert-going fans. “Cultural relevance begins with behaviour, not iconography,” said Bill Yom, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Jung von Matt HANGANG. “We looked at what fans actually go through on concert day and built the brand around that truth. The result connects culture, product and commerce without forcing any of them.”

The project underscores Jung von Matt HANGANG’s role as a cultural bridge between Korea and global markets. By focusing on behaviours rather than decoration, the agency creates credible roles for brands within cultural contexts. For TIRTIR, this approach means moving beyond visibility to turn product relevance into experience, participation and sales.
