Independent creative agency Weave has won at the 2026 Australian Good Design Awards for its Oh! for OzHarvest campaign, recognised in the Communication Design Print and Packaging category. The project reframed surplus food as desirable, earning praise for wit, boldness and impact, while highlighting design’s role in driving social change.

Independent creative agency Weave has been announced as a winner at the 2026 Australian Good Design Awards, Australia’s longest-running international design awards programme, for its Oh! for OzHarvest campaign. The project, created for OzHarvest Ventures, received the prestigious accolade in the Communication Design Print and Packaging category, applauded for its innovation, impact and ability to shift perceptions around surplus food.

Weave’s Executive Creative Director, Dan Cookson, explained the thinking behind the campaign: “We wanted people to look at surplus food differently. Not as something worthy or second-best, but as something you’d genuinely want to pick up off the shelf. That’s really where Oh! came from. It gave us a way to bring a bit of wit, personality and boldness to the brand, while still feeling unmistakably connected to OzHarvest and everything they stand for. We loved working on this one, so it’s awesome to see it recognised by the Australian Good Design Awards.”

The Awards, presented under the theme Design that Leads, celebrated design’s critical role in navigating complexity, driving innovation and creating positive change. The Jury commended Oh! for OzHarvest as a well-executed brand architecture that extended the OzHarvest identity with “honest wit and purpose”. They noted the design’s success in reframing surplus food as desirable and inviting, demonstrating how communication design can influence consumer behaviour.

The Jury highlighted the cleverness of the brand name, which functions simultaneously as an emotional reaction, a mnemonic for OzHarvest, and a punctuation device. The expressive exclamation mark was praised for anchoring the identity effectively, while the bold visual approach and considered communication on pack created strong shelf presence across multiple product categories.

Rachel Wye, Managing Director of Good Design Australia, emphasised the broader significance of this year’s winners. “Design is an important economic and social capability. It influences the products we create, the services we rely on, the policies we develop and the way organisations respond to complex problems,” she said. “This year’s Award winners are addressing energy costs, healthcare, environmental degradation, artificial intelligence, disaster preparedness, accessibility and community wellbeing. Australia has an extraordinary design community and an opportunity to use that capability to strengthen our economy, improve lives and build industries that can compete internationally.”

The Australian Good Design Awards have recognised excellence for nearly seven decades, celebrating transformative projects across 13 overarching disciplines and more than 30 categories, including Built Environment, Concept Design, Digital Design, Engineering Design, Fashion and Textiles, Policy Design, Product Design, Service Design and Social Impact. The recognition of Weave’s Oh! for OzHarvest campaign underscores how design can challenge perceptions, inspire behaviour change and contribute to a better future.
