Zudio, Tata Group’s value-fashion chain under Trent Limited, has achieved the landmark of 1,000 stores across India within ten years of its launch. With a strong focus on Tier-II and Tier-III cities, agile supply chains, and affordable pricing, the brand has served over 100 million customers, reshaping India’s fashion retail landscape.

Zudio, the value-fashion retail chain managed by Trent Limited under the Tata Group, has officially crossed the milestone of 1,000 stores in India as of September 2026, marking one of the most significant achievements in the country’s fashion retail sector. Founded in 2016, the brand has reached this landmark in just a decade, underscoring its rapid rise and resonance with India’s price-conscious yet style-driven consumers.

The expansion reflects Zudio’s deliberate strategy of tapping into Tier-II and Tier-III markets, which account for more than 80 per cent of its newer outlets. By extending its footprint beyond metropolitan centres, the retailer has positioned itself as a household name in over 300 cities nationwide. This geographic reach has allowed Zudio to serve a diverse consumer base, catering to aspirational shoppers who seek affordable fashion without compromising on quality or variety.

Central to Zudio’s success is its agile domestic supply chain, which ensures quick turnaround times and keeps most apparel price points under ₹1000. This model has enabled the brand to maintain affordability while responding swiftly to evolving fashion trends. The emphasis on value-driven pricing has been instrumental in attracting and retaining a wide customer base, with the company reporting that it has successfully served over 100 million customers since inception.

Industry observers note that Zudio’s growth trajectory is emblematic of the broader transformation in India’s retail landscape, where value-fashion chains are increasingly shaping consumer behaviour. The brand’s ability to scale rapidly while maintaining consistency in its offerings has set a benchmark for competitors in the segment. Its expansion also highlights the Tata Group’s commitment to strengthening its fashion retail portfolio, complementing the growth of Westside in the mid-market and premium categories.

The milestone of 1,000 stores is not merely a numerical achievement but a reflection of Zudio’s ability to democratise fashion across India. By focusing on affordability, accessibility, and agility, the brand has created a retail ecosystem that resonates with millions of shoppers, particularly in emerging markets. As India’s fashion retail sector continues to evolve, Zudio’s journey from a single store in 2016 to a thousand outlets in 2026 stands as a testament to the power of strategic vision and execution.

Looking ahead, Zudio’s challenge will be to sustain this momentum while navigating the complexities of scale, competition, and consumer expectations. Yet, with its proven model and strong brand equity, the retailer appears well-positioned to continue shaping the future of value fashion in India.
