Weave and Four Pillars Gin illuminate the Wild Isle’s wild side

Award-winning gin distillery, Four Pillars, has teamed up with long-term brand and design partners, Weave for the latest release of its famous Distiller Series: Wild Isle Gin. Weave was tasked with designing Wild Isle’s label and developing art direction for product photography to launch the gin.

Weave’s Creative Director, Darren Song, said: The Four Pillars Distiller Series has always been about collaboration and creativity, not just in the gin, but in the way it’s brought to life through design. We wanted the label to capture a sense of discovery to reflect NZ’s Great Barrier Island where the gin’s key botanicals originated from.”

“Weave has built on the premium, collectible legacy of the Distiller Series to create a label that felt true to Island Gin’s community values and sense of place, while remaining unmistakenly Four Pillars,” Song explained.

The result is a celebration of Great Barrier Island’s dual character – a lush rainforest by day and a haven of discovery by night – via a custom illustration that captures the rich diversity of the island’s forests and oceans, alongside the hero botanicals, all of which come to life courtesy of glow-in-the-dark details adding an unexpected textural dimension to the packaging and label design.

As the sixth release in a series that includes Four Pillars Spice Trade Gin and Four Pillars Changing Seasons Gin, Wild Isle Gin combines Aussie gin fan favourites, Four Pillars and distilling partner, Island Gin, a boutique distillery based on New Zealand’s remote Great Barrier Island. Known for its rugged landscapes and pristine waters, the island informed both the gin itself – crafted with seaweed, saltwater, and Manuka honey – and the visual world created for its packaging.

Millie Friend, Brand Manager at Four Pillars, said: “Our Distiller Series is one of our longest-running series and Weave has been our creative partner across all six gins now. Each gin is unique to the distilling partner and their home, botanicals and techniques, and Weave take all of that information and inspiration and translate it into truly distinctive labels.”

“The art direction extends the story beyond the label, allowing us to communicate it through the beautiful photography that is a key part of the Four Pillars brand,” Friend concluded.

Wild Isle Gin will be available through the Four Pillars Gin website and distillery from September 18.
