Ashutosh Dixit, head of Porsche Middle East, has taken additional charge of Porsche India after Manolito Vujicic’s departure. With Porsche achieving record sales in 2024, Dixit will focus on brand presence, dealer expansion, and premium growth, signalling the marque’s commitment to India’s evolving luxury and electric vehicle market.
German luxury carmaker Porsche has appointed Ashutosh Dixit to oversee its India operations, adding to his existing role as head of Porsche Middle East. The decision follows the departure of Manolito Vujicic, who completed his tenure as Director of Porsche India. Dixit’s expanded remit signals Porsche’s intent to streamline leadership across key growth markets while maintaining momentum in India’s burgeoning luxury car segment.
Porsche has been witnessing robust growth in India, with 2024 marking a milestone year as the company crossed the 1,000-unit sales mark for the first time. Its portfolio in the country spans both internal combustion engine models such as the Cayenne and Macan, alongside electric offerings like the Taycan, reflecting the brand’s dual focus on tradition and innovation. The Indian market, long considered challenging for luxury automakers due to high import duties and limited infrastructure, has nevertheless shown increasing appetite for premium vehicles, particularly in metropolitan hubs.
Dixit, who took charge of Porsche Middle East in April 2025, brings extensive experience from his stints at Audi AG, Volkswagen, Audi FBU, and Skoda India. An alumnus of IIM Indore, where he completed his MBA in Sales & Marketing and International Business, Dixit is recognised for his expertise in strategy, brand management, sales operations, and network development. His leadership is expected to focus on strengthening Porsche’s brand presence, expanding its dealer network, and accelerating growth in the premium segment.
The timing of this leadership change is significant. With India emerging as a promising market for luxury and electric vehicles, Porsche’s decision to entrust Dixit with dual responsibilities reflects confidence in his ability to balance regional priorities while driving India’s growth story. His track record in steering market development initiatives positions him well to navigate the complexities of India’s automotive landscape, where consumer aspirations are rising alongside infrastructural challenges.
Industry observers note that Porsche’s India strategy will likely hinge on expanding accessibility through dealer networks, enhancing customer engagement, and leveraging the global push towards electrification. The Taycan, Porsche’s flagship electric sports car, has already generated strong interest among Indian buyers, signalling potential for further growth in the EV segment. Dixit’s leadership could prove pivotal in aligning Porsche’s India operations with its global sustainability goals while catering to the evolving preferences of Indian consumers.
As Porsche consolidates its presence in India, Dixit’s appointment underscores the brand’s commitment to long-term growth and leadership continuity. His expanded role not only reflects Porsche’s confidence in his capabilities but also highlights the strategic importance of India within the company’s global roadmap. For Porsche enthusiasts and industry watchers alike, Dixit’s stewardship promises to be a defining chapter in the marque’s journey in India.
