The National School of Drama (NSD), India’s premier institution for dramatic arts, has announced applications for the 26th Bharat Rang Mahotsav – International Theatre Festival of India, to be held in January 2027. Theatre groups, schools, companies, and directors from India and abroad are invited to participate in what is billed as the “World’s Largest Theatre Festival.”
Organised under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the festival offers a global stage for diverse forms of performance. Productions can be showcased across eight categories, including Modern Theatre, Classical/Sanskrit Theatre, Puppet Theatre, Folk & Tribal Theatre, and Children’s Theatre, among others. The event continues NSD’s tradition of celebrating the richness of dramatic expression while fostering international collaboration and cultural exchange.
Applications are open exclusively through brmapplication.nsd.gov.in, with the deadline set for 27 August 2026. The festival promises to be a landmark gathering of creative talent, offering audiences and participants alike a chance to witness the breadth of theatrical innovation from across the world.
