Flipkart has unveiled two inventive films for its Big Billion Days campaign, conceptualised by McCann India of Omnicom Advertising India. ‘Luck By Naam’ taps into numerology with Sanjay B Jumaani, while ‘Tatkaal Seva’ revives India’s famed Tatkaal agents, both offering unique ways for shoppers to secure the best deals.
Flipkart has launched two new films as part of its campaign for the Big Billion Days Sale, each designed to dramatise the promise of securing the best deals in distinctive ways. Conceptualised by McCann India, part of Omnicom Advertising India, the films blend cultural quirks with consumer insight to create memorable narratives.
The first film, Luck By Naam, turns every Indian’s name into a chance to get lucky. Featuring celebrity numerologist Sanjay B Jumaani, the film builds on the belief that names can shape fortune. At the centre of the idea is LuckByNaam.com, a microsite where users enter their full name and, through Jumaani’s Chaldean numerology method, discover their personalised ‘Luck Score’. The higher the score, the more Flipkart SuperCoins they unlock. The film takes viewers inside Jumaani’s eccentric world, where alphabets become calculations, names transform into numbers, and a single added letter might alter destiny. By weaving numerology into the shopping experience, Flipkart makes the promise of “Yahaan Sabka Luck Badlega” feel tangible and entertaining.
If Luck By Naam is about fortune, the second film, Tatkaal Seva, is about speed. Drawing inspiration from India’s original speedsters—the Tatkaal agents who once helped travellers secure last-minute train tickets—Flipkart reimagines them as deal-booking specialists. In the film, a Tatkaal agent directs shoppers to a secret microsite where they can reserve high-demand deals at opening prices, ensuring they are ready to place orders the moment Big Billion Days goes live. The exaggerated origin story of one such agent, who finds his ultimate calling in booking seemingly impossible deals, adds humour and drama to the narrative.
Together, the films highlight Flipkart’s ambition to make Big Billion Days more than just a sale. By tapping into cultural beliefs around luck and nostalgia for Tatkaal speed, the brand positions itself as both playful and practical. The dual approach—fortune and speed—underscores the larger promise of this year’s festival: that everyone’s luck will change, and no opportunity will be missed.
