Prime Video has announced the launch of Sony LIV as an add-on subscription in India, offering customers access to premium entertainment, daily television and live sports in one destination. Available across devices, the partnership enhances Prime Video’s multilingual offering with Sony LIV’s Originals, movies, shows and marquee sporting events.
Prime Video, India’s largest streaming service for exclusive Originals, has unveiled a landmark partnership with Sony LIV, bringing one of the country’s most prominent local OTT platforms onto its service as an add-on subscription. The move consolidates two expansive content libraries into a single destination, eliminating the need for viewers to toggle between apps.
Sony LIV’s add-on subscription will be available across mobile, web, Fire TV, smart TVs and other living room devices where Prime Video operates. Customers can choose between two pricing options — ₹399 per month or ₹1,499 annually — to access Sony LIV’s rich catalogue of entertainment and sports.
The offering includes more than 450 movies, 300 shows, and a wide array of on-demand content across multiple languages. Subscribers will enjoy acclaimed Originals such as the Scam franchise and Gullak, films like Sitaare Zameen Par, and popular daily and weekly television shows from Sony SET and Sony SAB, including Kaun Banega Crorepati, Indian Idol, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and Pushpa Impossible.
Sports fans are equally well served, with live coverage of bilateral India cricket, the UEFA Champions League, French Open, Commonwealth Games and UFC. The upcoming India Tour of New Zealand, featuring Tests, ODIs and T20Is from 22 October, will be available through the add-on. Reality and entertainment titles such as KBC Season 18, Family Full House With Rohit Sharma and Indian Idol Season 17 will also feature prominently. With content spanning Hindi, English, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Gujarati, the partnership deepens Prime Video’s multilingual reach.
Gaurav Bhasin, Head – AVOD Business and Marketplace, Prime Video India, described the collaboration as a significant step towards making Prime Video “the ultimate entertainment destination.” He emphasised that the integration of Sony LIV’s daily television cadence and continuous sports calendar alongside Prime Video’s Originals and films expands choice for millions of Indian viewers.
Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer and Business Head – Sports and International, SPNI, highlighted Sony LIV’s ambition to broaden access to its diverse content. He noted that the partnership strengthens Sony LIV’s offering, from marquee television properties such as Kaun Banega Crorepati and Indian Idol to regional launches like Sony VIZHA in Tamil and Kon Honaar Crorepati in Marathi. Live sports and acclaimed Originals, he added, remain central to Sony LIV’s proposition.
The add-on subscription model offers several benefits, including consolidated login and billing, unified watchlists and download libraries, and personalised recommendations across services. Customers can browse and discover content from multiple premium subscriptions without leaving the Prime Video app or website.
By integrating Sony LIV into its platform, Prime Video not only enhances convenience but also reinforces its position as a comprehensive entertainment hub. For audiences, the partnership represents more choice, greater accessibility and a seamless viewing experience across genres, languages and formats.
