Balaji Telefilms has named Prabhjyot Gujral Chauhan as its new Fiction Head. Associated with the company since 2025 as Content Director, Chauhan brings over 14 years of industry experience in storytelling, concept development and creative production, having previously collaborated with leading production houses across television, web and short-format content.

Balaji Telefilms Ltd has announced the appointment of Prabhjyot Gujral Chauhan as Fiction Head, marking a significant milestone in her career within India’s entertainment industry. Chauhan, who joined the company in 2025 as Content Director, steps into the new role with a wealth of experience and a proven track record in creative leadership.

With more than 14 years in the television sector, Chauhan has built her reputation on expertise in concept development, storytelling and creative production. Her career spans a wide range of formats, including television serials, web series and short-form content, reflecting her adaptability in an industry that continues to evolve rapidly with changing audience preferences and digital platforms.

Her journey has been characterised by collaborations with some of the most respected production houses in India. As a freelancer earlier in her career, Chauhan contributed to projects with Story Square Productions, Shoonya Square Productions Pvt Ltd, Sphere Origins Multivision Pvt Ltd, Salt Media LLP and Gurudev Bhalla Productions Pvt Ltd, among others. These experiences not only broadened her creative outlook but also gave her a deep understanding of diverse storytelling styles and production methodologies.

At Balaji Telefilms, Chauhan’s elevation to Fiction Head underscores the company’s commitment to strengthening its creative leadership in scripted content. Balaji, long recognised as a powerhouse in Indian television and digital entertainment, has consistently delivered some of the country’s most popular and culturally resonant shows. Chauhan’s appointment signals a renewed focus on innovation in fiction programming, as the company seeks to maintain its dominance in a competitive landscape where streaming platforms and traditional broadcasters vie for audience attention.

Her role will likely involve spearheading new concepts, overseeing creative teams and ensuring that Balaji’s fiction slate continues to resonate with viewers across demographics. Given her background in both traditional television and emerging digital formats, Chauhan is well placed to bridge the gap between legacy storytelling and contemporary audience demands.

Industry observers note that her appointment comes at a time when fiction content is undergoing a transformation, with audiences increasingly seeking nuanced narratives, strong character arcs and culturally relevant themes. Chauhan’s ability to blend creative vision with production expertise positions her as a key figure in shaping Balaji’s future output.

For Chauhan, the move represents both recognition of her contributions and an opportunity to influence the trajectory of one of India’s most influential entertainment companies. For Balaji Telefilms, it is a strategic decision to entrust its fiction portfolio to a leader with proven creative acumen and industry-wide experience.
