The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre is set to open The Library on 1 November, creating a new destination for readers, diners and culture enthusiasts in Mumbai. Featuring more than 4,500 books, curated culinary offerings and community-driven experiences, the space aims to foster learning, creativity and meaningful connections.

Mumbai’s cultural landscape is poised to gain an inviting new gathering place as the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) prepares to open The Library on 1 November, expanding its vision of creating accessible and immersive cultural experiences for the city’s residents and visitors.

Designed as a space for readers, thinkers and lifelong learners, The Library brings together books, conversation, food and cultural engagement under one roof. The concept reflects a growing global trend of reimagining libraries as vibrant community spaces where people can not only read and learn, but also connect through shared experiences.

At the heart of the new venue is a carefully curated collection of more than 4,500 books spanning English and regional languages. Visitors will be able to browse a diverse selection of titles, discover new authors and revisit literary favourites in an environment created to encourage curiosity and exploration.

Beyond its extensive collection, The Library seeks to offer an experience that extends well past the traditional notion of a reading room. Guests can settle in with a book, enjoy a meal, participate in creative workshops or simply engage in meaningful conversations with fellow visitors. The venue’s programme is expected to blend literature, culture and community, making it as much a social destination as a place for quiet reflection.

Food will also play a central role in the experience. Visitors will have access to thoughtfully crafted culinary offerings throughout the day, from breakfast through to evening drinks. By combining literature with hospitality, the space aims to encourage people to linger longer, creating opportunities for interaction and cultural exchange.

In announcing the opening, NMACC described The Library as a cultural home shaped by books and shared experiences, where every visit offers something new to discover. The emphasis is on creating an atmosphere in which learning and leisure coexist naturally, allowing individuals to shape their own experience, whether that means spending hours immersed in a novel or taking part in a collaborative event.

The addition of The Library further strengthens the cultural footprint of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, which has established itself as one of India’s most ambitious arts institutions. Located within the Jio World Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, the Centre was conceived as a multidisciplinary destination dedicated to showcasing and nurturing artistic expression across forms and disciplines.

The NMACC is already home to three distinct performing arts venues. These include the 2,000-seat Grand Theatre, known for hosting large-scale productions and international performances; the technologically advanced 250-seat Studio Theatre, designed for more intimate presentations; and the versatile 125-seat Cube, which accommodates dynamic and experimental formats.

With the launch of The Library, the Cultural Centre continues to broaden its appeal beyond the performing arts, creating opportunities for engagement that span literature, learning, dining and community participation. The move reflects an understanding that cultural institutions today are increasingly expected to serve as gathering spaces where people can exchange ideas and experiences as readily as they consume art.

As the doors prepare to open on 1 November, The Library promises to offer Mumbai a welcoming retreat from the pace of city life. Whether visitors arrive in search of their next favourite book, a thoughtful discussion, a creative workshop or simply a quiet corner in which to unwind, the newest addition to NMACC aims to ensure that every visit begins a fresh chapter.
