Dabur India has announced a key leadership transition, appointing Herjit Singh Bhalla as Additional Director and Whole-time Director from 14 November 2026, subject to approvals. The move follows the resignation of long-serving Global CEO Mohit Malhotra, who will leave the company to take up a new leadership position overseas.
Dabur India has unveiled a significant leadership reshuffle, marking the beginning of a new chapter for one of the country’s leading consumer goods companies. The company has appointed Herjit Singh Bhalla, currently Chief Executive Officer of its India business, as an Additional Director and Whole-time Director for a term of five years, effective from 14 November 2026, subject to the necessary statutory and regulatory approvals.
The appointment comes as Dabur prepares for the departure of its Global Chief Executive Officer and Whole-time Director, Mohit Malhotra, whose resignation will take effect on 13 November 2026. The transition signals a notable change at the top of the organisation, with Bhalla expected to play a central role in steering the company’s future growth strategy.
Bhalla is no stranger to the business. As head of Dabur’s India operations, he has been closely involved in overseeing the company’s performance in one of its most critical markets. His elevation to the board and appointment as Whole-time Director reflects the company’s confidence in its existing leadership bench and its preference for continuity during a period of change.
The outgoing Malhotra leaves behind a long and distinguished career with the fast-moving consumer goods major. Having spent more than three decades with Dabur, he has been associated with several phases of the company’s evolution and expansion. Over the years, he held a range of leadership positions before taking charge as Global CEO, helping guide the company through changing consumer preferences and competitive market conditions.
In his resignation letter, Malhotra said he had accepted a leadership opportunity overseas and would assume the new role from 16 November 2026. His decision brings to a close an association that has spanned more than 30 years, making him one of the company’s longest-serving senior executives.
Industry observers often view leadership transitions of this nature as critical moments for large consumer companies, particularly when they involve executives with deep institutional knowledge. For Dabur, however, the appointment of an internal candidate with extensive operational experience may help ensure a smooth handover and maintain strategic continuity.
The timing of the transition has been carefully structured, with Malhotra’s tenure ending a day before Bhalla’s new appointment takes effect. Such succession planning is often aimed at minimising disruption and providing clarity to investors, employees and business partners.
As Dabur moves into its next phase, attention will now turn to how Bhalla shapes the company’s direction in an increasingly competitive consumer goods market. While the organisation bids farewell to a veteran leader whose career has been closely intertwined with its growth story, it is also placing its trust in a familiar face to lead the business forward.
The leadership change underscores both continuity and renewal, as Dabur seeks to build on its legacy while preparing for new opportunities in the years ahead.
