India Water Portal (IWP) has announced its latest fellowship programme, inviting storytellers, journalists, filmmakers, researchers, and communication professionals to apply for its Written and Visual Storytelling Fellowships. Running from August 2026 to January 2027, the initiative aims to amplify narratives around water, environment, rural development, climate, and livelihoods, with a strong emphasis on underrepresented geographies and communities.
Selected fellows will receive a monthly stipend of ₹25,000, along with up to ₹10,000 in travel allowance. Beyond financial support, the fellowship offers mentorship from sector experts, editorial guidance to sharpen story ideas, and publication opportunities across IWP’s platforms. Fellows will also benefit from the portal’s extensive networks and partnerships, ensuring their work reaches wider audiences.
Applications are open until 30 June 2026, with preference given to those who bring local perspectives and demonstrate a commitment to impactful storytelling. While prior experience in journalism or content creation is desirable, it is not mandatory, making the programme accessible to emerging voices passionate about water and its role in society.
Applicants must submit details of their background, career goals, and a personal statement explaining their motivation to join the fellowship. They are also required to share story ideas they wish to pursue and provide relevant work samples or portfolio links. The fellowship is available in both English and Hindi for written storytelling, while visual storytelling applicants can apply through a dedicated portal.
By nurturing diverse perspectives, IWP hopes to spotlight the urgent challenges of water and climate, while showcasing the power of storytelling to inspire change. For those ready to uncover narratives that deepen our understanding of water’s role in shaping communities and futures, this fellowship offers a unique platform to make a lasting impact.
