Deloitte India has reappointed Romal Shetty as Chief Executive Officer for a second four-year term, effective 1 April 2027. Shetty, who first assumed the role in 2023, has overseen Deloitte India’s rise to become the network’s sixth-largest member firm globally and third-largest consulting practice, following the US and UK.
Deloitte India has confirmed the reappointment of Romal Shetty as Chief Executive Officer for India and South Asia, extending his leadership for a second four-year term beginning 1 April 2027. Shetty, who first took charge in April 2023, has been instrumental in driving the firm’s rapid ascent within Deloitte’s global network. Under his stewardship, Deloitte India has emerged as the sixth-largest member firm worldwide and the third-largest consulting practice, trailing only the United States and the United Kingdom.
Shetty’s reappointment reflects both his proven track record and the confidence Deloitte places in his ability to sustain momentum in a highly competitive professional services landscape. Having been associated with Deloitte for nearly a decade, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s consulting and advisory strengths, positioning it as a critical player in global transformation initiatives.
His career trajectory prior to Deloitte underscores a formidable pedigree in advisory and risk management. Shetty spent more than 12 years at KPMG India, where he joined in 2004 as Senior Manager in Risk Advisory Services and rose to become Chief Operating Officer – Advisory by 2017. During this period, he earned a reputation for leading large-scale financial and technical overhauls across 30 to 40 countries, cementing his standing as a global strategist and operational architect.
Before his tenure at KPMG, Shetty worked at EY as a Manager, focusing on advisory and risk roles with an emphasis on standardised business domain solutions. His earlier professional chapters included a role at Arthur Andersen & Co. as Senior Consultant, where he specialised in accounting infrastructure and technology evaluation during a period of significant restructuring for the firm. He began his career at PwC India as a Consultant, delivering advisory and implementation services for domestic corporate accounts, laying the foundation for his subsequent rise in the consulting sector.
Industry observers note that Shetty’s career reflects the evolution of India’s professional services sector, where leaders with deep cross-border experience and operational expertise are increasingly sought after to guide firms through complex transformations. His reappointment signals Deloitte’s commitment to continuity and strategic clarity at a time when consulting practices are navigating rapid technological change, shifting client expectations, and global economic uncertainty.
As Shetty embarks on his second term, Deloitte India is expected to continue its trajectory of growth and innovation, leveraging his leadership to strengthen client partnerships, expand service offerings, and reinforce its position as a global consulting powerhouse. His journey from early advisory roles to the helm of one of the world’s largest consulting practices underscores both his personal resilience and the firm’s confidence in his vision.
