Kenya’s Too Good Foods, with The Partnership Agency Nairobi, has won the Cannes Lions 2026 Grand Prix in the Sustainable Development Goals category for Sick Leave for Cows. Produced and post‑produced by Fingerprint Films Mumbai, the campaign highlights animal welfare in food production, marking a milestone for African creativity.
At the 73rd Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, a Kenyan campaign has taken centre stage with a bold and unconventional idea. Sick Leave for Cows, created by Too Good Foods Kenya in collaboration with The Partnership Agency Nairobi, has been awarded the Grand Prix in the Sustainable Development Goals category, one of the festival’s most socially significant honours.
The campaign, produced and post‑produced by Fingerprint Films in Mumbai, India, tackled the often overlooked issue of animal welfare in food production. By framing the concept of “sick leave” for cows, it drew attention to the humane treatment of livestock, aligning with global conversations around sustainability, ethics, and responsible consumption. The work resonated with jurors for its originality and its ability to connect a pressing agricultural challenge with a universally relatable human concept.
Winning the Grand Prix in this category is no small feat. The Sustainable Development Goals Lions recognise creativity that directly contributes to advancing the United Nations’ agenda for a better world. Sick Leave for Cows stood out for its clarity of message and its potential to inspire systemic change in how food industries approach animal health and welfare.
For Kenya, the accolade represents a landmark achievement. African campaigns have increasingly been making their presence felt at Cannes, but this victory underscores the region’s growing influence in shaping global creative narratives. It also highlights the collaborative nature of modern advertising, with production expertise from India complementing Kenyan storytelling to deliver a campaign of international calibre.
Too Good Foods Kenya has positioned itself not only as a brand but as a voice for ethical responsibility in food systems. The campaign’s success demonstrates how creativity can transcend borders, cultures, and industries to spark meaningful dialogue. As the festival continues to celebrate innovation across categories, Sick Leave for Cows will be remembered as a defining example of how advertising can champion sustainability while remaining engaging and impactful.
