Siddhartha Butalia has been appointed Senior Vice President – Corporate Brand, Marketing & Communications at flydubai. With leadership experience across Air India Express, AirAsia India, Taj Hotels, Tata Consumer Products, and global advertising agencies, he brings a rich blend of brand strategy, marketing expertise, and corporate communications to the airline’s leadership team.

In a significant leadership appointment, flydubai has announced Siddhartha Butalia as its new Senior Vice President – Corporate Brand, Marketing & Communications. The move underscores the airline’s commitment to strengthening its brand presence and strategic communications in an increasingly competitive aviation market.

Butalia’s career spans diverse industries and geographies, reflecting a deep expertise in brand building, marketing leadership, and corporate communications. Prior to joining flydubai, he served as Chief Marketing Officer at Air India Express and AirAsia India, where he played a pivotal role in shaping brand narratives and driving customer engagement. His tenure at Taj Hotels as Associate Vice President and Director of Marketing further cemented his reputation as a leader capable of blending heritage branding with modern marketing strategies.

His earlier professional journey includes key roles at Tata Consumer Products, where he managed Tetley GB as Brand Manager and later oversaw Asia-Pacific operations. As part of the Tata Administrative Services, he contributed to strategic projects at Tetley GB, gaining valuable international exposure. Butalia also began his career in advertising, working with JWT and Ogilvy & Mather, where he honed his skills in account management and client servicing, laying the foundation for his later success in corporate marketing.

Academically, Butalia’s credentials are equally impressive. He holds a B.A. (Honours) in Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication, Marketing & Advertising from Xavier Institute of Communications, and dual MBAs – one in Strategic Leadership & International Project Management from Brest Business School, and another in Marketing & Strategy from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. This combination of economics, communications, and advanced management education has equipped him with a holistic perspective on business, branding, and leadership.

At flydubai, Butalia is expected to lead integrated brand strategy, marketing innovation, and corporate communications, aligning the airline’s identity with its growth ambitions. His appointment comes at a time when Middle Eastern carriers are intensifying efforts to expand their global footprint, and flydubai’s focus on brand differentiation will be critical in attracting new markets and strengthening customer loyalty.

Industry observers note that Butalia’s blend of hospitality, aviation, FMCG, and advertising experience positions him uniquely to craft compelling narratives for flydubai. His ability to navigate both traditional and digital marketing landscapes, coupled with his international exposure, is likely to play a key role in shaping the airline’s next phase of growth.

With this appointment, flydubai signals its intent to invest in brand leadership that not only drives visibility but also fosters deeper engagement with stakeholders across markets. Butalia’s arrival marks a new chapter in the airline’s journey, one that promises to combine strategic vision with creative excellence.
