Balaji RD has joined WPP Media as Client Lead in Chennai, bringing nearly two decades of experience. His appointment highlights the company’s push to enhance regional leadership, deepen client partnerships, and deliver integrated, future-ready media solutions across key accounts in an evolving marketing landscape.

Balaji RD has taken on a new role as Client Lead at WPP Media, marking a strategic addition to the company’s leadership team in southern India. Based in Chennai, he will focus on strengthening client partnerships and delivering integrated media solutions across a portfolio of key accounts, aligning with the network’s broader ambition to deepen its regional footprint.

Balaji joins the organisation from R K Swamy Limited, where he served as Vice President. His move back into the WPP ecosystem reflects a deliberate effort by the media network to reinforce its leadership bench while responding to the growing importance of regional markets in India’s advertising and media landscape.

With close to twenty years of industry experience, Balaji brings a comprehensive understanding of media strategy, integrated marketing, and business transformation. His career trajectory has seen him contribute to a range of prominent organisations, including VDO.AI, Wavemaker, MEC, Maxus, Lintas, and EventXpress Management Services. These roles have equipped him with a cross-functional perspective on the evolving marketing ecosystem, from traditional media planning to digital-first execution.

He began his professional journey in 2005 as an Operations Executive at EventXpress Management Services, gradually building expertise across multiple domains. Over the years, he has developed a reputation for navigating complex client requirements and translating them into cohesive, results-driven media strategies.

Balaji’s core strengths lie in media strategy and integrated marketing, with a growing emphasis on emerging areas such as Connected TV (CTV), programmatic ecosystems, and the application of generative artificial intelligence in marketing. As brands increasingly seek measurable, data-driven outcomes, these capabilities are becoming central to modern media planning and execution.

His appointment comes at a time when the media industry is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by digital acceleration and shifting consumer behaviour. By bringing in seasoned professionals with both strategic depth and technological acumen, WPP Media appears intent on positioning itself at the forefront of this change, particularly in high-growth regional markets like Chennai.
