Parle Biscuits has named George Kovoor, a PepsiCo veteran, as its first-ever CEO effective 1 September 2026. The leadership shift marks a historic moment for the maker of Parle-G, Monaco, Hide & Seek and Melody, as it prepares to modernise operations and pursue ambitious growth in India and abroad.

Parle Biscuits has appointed George Kovoor, a PepsiCo veteran with over three decades of global experience, as its first-ever Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 September 2026. The move signals a historic leadership shift for the maker of Parle-G, Monaco, Hide & Seek and Melody, as it prepares for ambitious expansion.

For nearly a century, Parle Biscuits has been synonymous with everyday indulgence in India. From the ubiquitous Parle-G, a biscuit that has nourished generations, to the playful crunch of Monaco and the sweet familiarity of Melody, the company’s portfolio has long been woven into the fabric of Indian life. Yet, despite its scale and legacy, Parle has never before appointed a Chief Executive Officer. That changed this September, when George Kovoor, a seasoned PepsiCo leader, took charge of the company’s future.

Kovoor’s appointment is more than a corporate reshuffle; it is a statement of intent. With over thirty years at PepsiCo, he has helmed operations across India, China, Asia-Pacific and global foodservice divisions, earning a reputation for driving transformation and building resilient businesses. His arrival at Parle is expected to usher in a new era of professionalised leadership, balancing the company’s family-run heritage with the demands of modern consumer markets.

Ajay Chauhan, Managing Director of Parle Biscuits, described Kovoor’s leadership as pivotal for the company’s next phase. “George’s proven ability to deliver results in diverse markets will help us strengthen our capabilities and open new opportunities for sustainable growth,” he said. The sentiment reflects Parle’s ambition to not only consolidate its dominance in India’s biscuit market but also to expand its reach globally, tapping into new categories and premium offerings.

The timing is significant. India’s packaged food industry is undergoing rapid change, shaped by shifting consumer habits, rising health consciousness and fierce competition from both domestic and multinational players. Parle, with its vast distribution network spanning millions of outlets, is well placed to adapt—but it needs fresh vision. Kovoor’s mandate will likely include modernising operations, innovating product lines and ensuring agility in responding to evolving tastes.

For consumers, the change may not be immediately visible. Parle-G will still be the biscuit tucked into schoolbags and tea breaks, Monaco will still be the salty snack of choice, and Melody will still promise its familiar chocolate centre. But behind the scenes, Kovoor’s leadership could redefine how Parle positions itself in a marketplace that is increasingly global, digital and health-conscious.

As Parle Biscuits turns the page on its storied history, Kovoor’s appointment is being seen as a watershed moment—one that could transform a beloved Indian brand into a modern powerhouse with international ambitions.
