Hyundai has unveiled the IONIQ V at Auto China 2026, its first dedicated IONIQ model for China. With a fastback sedan design, advanced AI cockpit, and over 600km range, the launch signals Hyundai’s “In China, For China” strategy and a bold commitment to expand its EV portfolio.
Hyundai officially lifted the covers on the IONIQ V at Auto China 2026 in Beijing on 24 April, marking a milestone as the brand’s first dedicated IONIQ production model for the Chinese market. Based on the VENUS Concept, the IONIQ V embodies Hyundai’s new “In China, For China” strategy, tailored to the tastes and expectations of Chinese consumers.
The streamlined exterior adopts Hyundai’s “The Origin” design language, defined by a sleek single‑curve silhouette and slim LED DRLs. Frameless windows, pop‑out door handles, floating side mirrors, and a distinctive “Dimensional Star Track” taillight design reinforce its futuristic appeal. Measuring 4,900mm in length, 1,890mm in width, and 1,470mm in height, with a 2,900mm wheelbase, the fastback sedan offers a commanding presence.
Inside, the IONIQ V is equally ambitious. A massive 27‑inch ultra‑thin 4K panoramic display integrates infotainment and driving information, complemented by a “Cyber Eye” Horizon Head‑Up Display. Nebula lighting, ambient mood illumination, and an eight‑speaker Dolby Atmos sound system create a premium atmosphere. Comfort is prioritised with “air‑hug” seats and class‑leading cabin space, including 1,078mm of front legroom. At the heart of the user experience is a Smart AI Assistant powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295 chipset, offering advanced voice and contextual support.
Performance is underpinned by Hyundai’s E‑GMP platform, enabling 800V fast charging. Long‑range versions, equipped with CATL batteries, promise over 600km on a single charge under CLTC standards. The IONIQ V is scheduled for launch in late 2026, spearheading Hyundai’s ambitious plan to introduce 20 new EV models in China over the next five years.
By combining cutting‑edge design, immersive technology, and market‑specific strategy, Hyundai positions the IONIQ V not just as a car, but as a statement of intent in the world’s largest EV market.
