L’Oréal has announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Innovist, a rising Indian personal care company known for its science-driven approach and brands such as Bare Anatomy and Chemist at Play. The deal marks a significant step in the French beauty giant’s ambition to expand its presence in India’s rapidly growing beauty and personal care sector.

Innovist, founded with a focus on combining scientific innovation with consumer-centric solutions, has quickly established itself as a trusted name among younger, digitally savvy Indian consumers. Its brands, particularly Bare Anatomy and Chemist at Play, have gained traction for their emphasis on customised formulations, dermatological credibility and affordability. By bringing Innovist into its fold, L’Oréal is not only strengthening its portfolio but also signalling its intent to embrace homegrown innovation that resonates with Indian consumers.

The acquisition reflects L’Oréal’s broader strategy of deepening its footprint in emerging markets where beauty consumption is expanding at pace. India, with its youthful demographics, rising disposable incomes and increasing appetite for premium and personalised beauty solutions, has become a focal point for global players. For L’Oréal, the addition of Innovist’s brands provides an opportunity to tap into consumer segments that value science-led, locally relevant products.

Industry observers note that the move underscores a growing trend of multinational corporations acquiring or partnering with local brands to gain cultural relevance and agility. Innovist’s strong digital-first presence and ability to connect with consumers through personalised offerings complement L’Oréal’s global expertise in research, innovation and distribution. The combination is expected to accelerate growth for both companies, creating a stronger platform to compete in India’s dynamic beauty landscape.

For Innovist, the partnership with L’Oréal offers access to global resources, advanced research capabilities and international markets, while retaining its identity as a homegrown innovator. The deal is likely to boost its ability to scale operations, expand product lines and strengthen consumer trust.

L’Oréal’s investment in Innovist highlights the importance of India in its global growth strategy. As the beauty industry continues to evolve, the integration of local insights with global expertise is increasingly seen as the formula for success. With this acquisition, L’Oréal is positioning itself to capture the next wave of growth in India’s beauty market, blending international ambition with local relevance.
