PALKI SHARMA TEASES ‘INDIA GLOBAL REVIEW’ AFTER NETWORK18 EXIT

Veteran journalist Palki Sharma has teased a new project titled India Global Review on X, sparking speculation about her next move following her recent departure from Network18. With no details revealed, industry observers await clarity on whether this marks her return to independent content creation or a new media collaboration.

Palki Sharma, one of India’s most recognisable news anchors, has set the media industry abuzz with a cryptic teaser for a project titled India Global Review (IGR). Shared on X, the post featured a graphic carrying the line “Coming Soon” alongside the hashtag #IGR, but offered no further explanation.

The announcement comes just weeks after Sharma’s exit from Network18, where she served as Managing Editor for over three years. During her tenure, she launched Vantage, a global affairs-focused monologue show on Firstpost and CNN-News18. Debuting in January 2023, the programme carved out a niche audience by blending sharp analysis with accessible storytelling, reinforcing Sharma’s reputation as a distinctive voice in international news coverage.

Her career, spanning nearly 25 years, has seen her anchor prime-time shows and lead editorial teams across major Indian media houses. At WION, she fronted Gravitas, a flagship programme that brought global issues into sharp focus for Indian audiences. Earlier, she worked with ITV Network, Doordarshan News, and The Hindustan Times, building a portfolio that reflects versatility across print and broadcast journalism.

The teaser for India Global Review has left industry watchers speculating whether Sharma is preparing to launch an independent digital-first venture, collaborate with an existing network, or experiment with new formats in global news storytelling. Given her prior entrepreneurial stint and her recent departure from mainstream media, the possibility of an independent content platform appears strong.

For audiences, the intrigue lies in how Sharma might leverage her experience in global affairs programming to shape IGR. With her established credibility and loyal following, the project could signal a fresh approach to international news from an Indian perspective.

As anticipation builds, Sharma’s silence on the specifics of IGR has only heightened curiosity. Whether it emerges as a standalone media brand or a collaborative initiative, the project promises to be closely watched, not just for its format but for what it represents in the evolving landscape of Indian journalism.
