Sprite has launched limited edition cans celebrating 17 National Basketball Association teams and players from the Unrivaled women’s three-on-three league, extending its long-running basketball partnerships. The collectible designs highlight local team culture and will roll out across selected US markets through March, targeting fans and collectors alike this season nationwide.

Sprite has unveiled a new basketball-themed campaign featuring limited-edition cans co-branded with 17 teams from the National Basketball Association alongside players from the women’s three-on-three competition Unrivaled, reinforcing the beverage brand’s longstanding relationship with the sport and its fan culture.

The special collection introduces a series of collectible can designs intended to celebrate local basketball loyalty and encourage fans to discover and collect variations linked to their favourite teams and athletes. According to the brand, each design acts as a visual tribute to the cities represented, capturing the distinctive energy, pride and attitude that shape local basketball culture across different markets.

In total, the release includes designs representing 17 NBA teams as well as eight players from Unrivaled, a women’s three-on-three basketball league that has quickly gained attention for its fast-paced format and roster of prominent athletes. The collaboration marks another step in Sprite’s effort to connect with both traditional professional basketball audiences and the rapidly growing interest in women’s basketball.

The initiative builds on Sprite’s decades-long association with the NBA, a relationship that has historically included advertising campaigns, athlete partnerships and fan-focused activations. By integrating Unrivaled players into the new can designs, the brand also signals its commitment to supporting emerging formats and expanding representation within the sport.

Distribution of the cans will take place through March, with NBA-themed cans appearing at select retailers in the local markets of the featured teams. Meanwhile, cans featuring Unrivaled players will be available across markets in the US Northeast as well as Las Vegas and Florida.

Through the release, Sprite aims to tap into the collectible culture that often surrounds sports merchandise, while reinforcing the emotional connection between basketball fans and their home teams. By blending sport, city identity and limited-edition packaging, the campaign seeks to transform everyday beverage cans into small but tangible symbols of basketball fandom.
