Three Hearts Rum, co-founded by Johnny Depp and Bobby DeLeon under Lost Horizon Spirits, is more than a Caribbean spirit—it’s a creative manifesto. Embossed with Depp’s tattoo-inspired island flag, the triangular bottle blends antiqued turquoise glass, vintage labels, and personal symbols, telling a layered story of craft, friendship, and imagination.
Some projects arrive with a brief. Some arrive with a mythology. Three Hearts Rum arrived with both—and with Johnny Depp opening a window into his personal creative world. The new Caribbean spirit from Lost Horizon Spirits, co-founded by Depp and Bobby DeLeon, is a bottle that embodies narrative as much as design.
Depp’s creative direction began with a flag he designed for his island in the Caribbean, composed of tattoos from his body, each carrying personal meaning. That flag now appears embossed on a triangular bottle designed to sit sideways, with organic imperfections, real cork, vintage labels, and old tax stamps. Every detail was part of Depp’s original vision, realised in collaboration with the creative team.

Beyond sketches, Depp shared elements of his personal collection and references from A Bunch of Stuff, his celebrated art exhibition. Antique bottles, collectibles, and his vast portfolio of artwork provided inspiration, reflecting a curiosity and reverence for things that endure. Group Creative Director Cosimo Surace described Depp’s intent: “Johnny had a strong desire to create a brand and package with deep meaning, connection to the land, and the power to spark imagination in everyone who interacts with it.”
The bottle itself is layered with symbolism. Antiqued turquoise glass nods to the sea, while a weathered paper label in letterpress-style typography evokes old sailors’ charts. Metal decals, pewter coins, leather-cord neck charms, and a skull-and-bones emblem draw directly from Depp’s personal symbols and tattoos, each element carrying a story.
Three Hearts Rum extends beyond branding into philosophy. Its manifesto declares: purpose over pretence, meaning over marketing, love over everything. It is a tribute to friendship, to place, and to craft—a spirit that is unmistakably Johnny’s story, rooted in the Caribbean and designed to spark imagination in all who encounter it.
