Cannes Lions 2026 celebrated craft excellence with Grand Prix wins for Google’s “Project Genie”, Coinbase’s “Your Way Out”, and De’Longhi’s “Tiny Coffee Shops”. Oprah Winfrey received the LionHeart Award for her global impact. The festival highlighted creativity across Digital, Film and Industry Craft while honouring cultural influence beyond advertising.
The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity once again demonstrated its ability to spotlight the finest achievements in craft, while also honouring cultural icons whose influence transcends advertising. This year’s awards revealed a balance between technical mastery and human resonance, with Grand Prix winners in Digital, Film and Industry Craft categories, alongside the prestigious LionHeart Award presented to Oprah Winfrey.
Digital Craft attracted 355 entries, with 11 Lions awarded: 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 5 Bronze. The Grand Prix went to “Project Genie”, created for Google by Google, Mountain View. The work stood out for its seamless blend of innovation and empathy, reflecting how digital tools can be harnessed to empower creativity and solve real-world challenges. It was a reminder that craft in the digital space is not only about technical brilliance but also about human-centred design.
Film Craft, traditionally one of the festival’s most competitive categories, received 1,433 entries. From these, 43 Lions were awarded: 6 Gold, 15 Silver and 21 Bronze. The Grand Prix was awarded to “Your Way Out”, for Coinbase, by Isle of Any, New York. Film Craft Jury President Pip Smart, Executive Producer and Partner at Revolver, Australia, explained the jury’s decision: “‘Your Way Out’ was the film that organically rose to the top as we worked through the judging process… eventually it was hard to argue for any other piece for the Grand Prix.” The film’s narrative strength and cinematic execution resonated deeply with the jury, underscoring the enduring power of storytelling in an era dominated by digital formats.
Industry Craft, with 649 entries, produced 18 Lions: 2 Gold, 5 Silver and 10 Bronze. The Grand Prix was awarded to “Tiny Coffee Shops” for De’Longhi, by LOLA, Madrid. This campaign exemplified how craft can elevate brand identity by celebrating everyday rituals. Through meticulous attention to detail and a warm, human touch, the work highlighted the intimacy of coffee culture while reinforcing De’Longhi’s positioning as a brand that values both tradition and innovation.
Beyond the competitive categories, the festival also honoured a figure whose influence extends far beyond the creative industries. Oprah Winfrey was presented with the Cannes LionHeart Award, recognising her as a global media leader, producer, philanthropist and actress who has harnessed her platform to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the world. Her recognition underscored the festival’s commitment to celebrating not only creative excellence but also cultural leadership and social responsibility.
Together, these awards painted a vivid picture of contemporary creativity: one that values craft, innovation and storytelling, while also acknowledging the broader cultural and social impact of influential voices. Cannes Lions 2026 reaffirmed its role as a global stage where artistry, commerce and conscience converge, reminding the industry that creativity is most powerful when it connects with humanity.
