The Indian Newspaper Society has launched a nationwide campaign, ‘Ink Doesn’t Lie’, to reaffirm the credibility and relevance of print media. On 27 July 2026, member publications carried a common advertisement underscoring print’s role as a trusted source of verified information and its contribution to informed public discourse.

The Indian Newspaper Society (INS) has taken a bold step to reassert the authority of print journalism in an era dominated by digital platforms. With the launch of its nationwide campaign, ‘Ink Doesn’t Lie’, the organisation is seeking to remind readers and advertisers alike of the enduring value of newspapers as a medium of trust, verification and public service.

On 27 July 2026, INS member publications across India carried a unified advertisement, a rare show of solidarity in the country’s diverse media landscape. The message was clear: print remains a cornerstone of credible journalism, offering readers verified information and contributing to the health of democratic discourse. At a time when misinformation proliferates online, the campaign positions newspapers as a bulwark against distortion and speculation.

The initiative comes as India’s media ecosystem continues to diversify, with digital platforms, social media and broadcast outlets competing for attention. Yet, INS argues that print retains unique strengths. Unlike the fragmented and often unregulated digital space, newspapers are subject to established editorial standards, accountability mechanisms and a tradition of fact-checking that has long underpinned their credibility.

Industry observers note that the campaign is not merely about nostalgia but about reaffirming relevance. Print may no longer dominate consumption patterns, but it continues to command respect among policymakers, businesses and readers who value depth and reliability. By uniting under a common banner, INS is signalling that newspapers are not retreating but adapting, asserting their place in a crowded marketplace of information.

The slogan ‘Ink Doesn’t Lie’ encapsulates this ethos. It is both a defence of the medium and a challenge to the perception that print is outdated. INS is betting that readers, weary of the noise and uncertainty of digital feeds, will recognise the permanence and accountability that ink on paper represents.

For advertisers, the campaign also serves as a reminder of print’s effectiveness. Despite declining circulations in some segments, newspapers continue to reach millions daily, offering targeted, credible platforms for brands. INS’s collective effort underscores that investing in print is not simply about reach but about association with trust and integrity.

Ultimately, the campaign reflects a broader truth: while technology reshapes how information is consumed, the principles of journalism remain constant. By championing print’s role in informed public discourse, INS is asserting that newspapers are not relics but resilient institutions, capable of evolving while staying true to their mission of delivering truth to the public.
