PORSCHE MARKS 75 YEARS IN AUSTRALIA WITH 911 TURBO S LAND DOWN UNDER

Porsche has unveiled the 911 Turbo S Land Down Under, a Sonderwunsch commission celebrating 75 years in Australia. Created with artist Werner Bronkhorst, the car features a Chromaflair gradient paint inspired by outback sunsets, bespoke Australian materials, and celestial detailing, blending craftsmanship, heritage, and performance into a singular tribute.

Porsche has chosen Australia as the canvas for one of its most evocative commemorative creations, unveiling the 911 Turbo S Land Down Under to mark 75 years of the marque in the country. Conceived through the Sonderwunsch programme and realised in collaboration with contemporary artist Werner Bronkhorst, the special edition is a deeply personal tribute to both Porsche’s legacy and the Australian landscape.

At the heart of the design lies a hand-applied Chromaflair gradient paintwork, a feat of artistry requiring seven layers and 300 hours of meticulous craftsmanship. The finish transitions from Terra Australis Red to Southern Cross Blue, capturing the drama of an outback sunset and the vastness of the Southern Hemisphere sky. Subtle details elevate the storytelling: a “ghosting” technique reveals the number “75” within the roof paintwork, while a hidden message beneath the rear spoiler delivers a distinctly Australian farewell as the car accelerates into the horizon.

The interior continues this narrative of place and identity. Dark Night Blue and Coolibah Brown leather form a rich palette, accented by Australian Silky Oak inlays that root the car in local craftsmanship. Embroidered into the cabin is a constellation map of the Uluru night sky as it appeared in 1951, the year Porsche first arrived in Australia. This celestial detail transforms the cockpit into a time capsule, linking the brand’s earliest presence in the country with its contemporary celebration.

The Land Down Under edition exemplifies Porsche’s evolving approach to luxury and heritage. Rather than relying solely on commemorative badging, the brand has embedded cultural and geographical storytelling into the very fabric of the car. It is a philosophy that resonates with modern collectors, who increasingly seek identity, meaning, and emotional connection alongside performance. By weaving Australian landscapes, skies, and materials into the DNA of the 911 Turbo S, Porsche has created not just a sports car but a cultural artefact.

Beneath the artistry, the engineering remains uncompromising. The 911 Turbo S platform ensures blistering performance, marrying 75 years of Porsche’s motorsport heritage with contemporary innovation. Yet it is the fusion of craftsmanship and country that defines this edition. The Land Down Under is more than a celebration of Porsche’s longevity in Australia; it is a statement of belonging, a tribute to the land and sky that have shaped the nation’s identity.

In commissioning Werner Bronkhorst and embracing the Sonderwunsch ethos, Porsche has demonstrated how heritage can be reimagined through artistry and storytelling. The result is a car that transcends its mechanical brilliance, becoming a symbol of connection between brand, culture, and country. For Porsche, the 911 Turbo S Land Down Under is not just a milestone—it is a masterpiece of meaning.
