Emami Agrotech Limited will invest ₹400 crore to establish a food park in West Bengal, consolidating its staples and snacks manufacturing. The expansion, part of a ₹750 crore push into snacking, is expected to create 4,000 jobs and pave the way for a future IPO of its food business.
Emami Agrotech Limited has announced plans to invest around ₹400 crore in setting up a food park in West Bengal, marking a significant step in its ambition to strengthen its footprint in the packaged foods sector. The company has sought 22 acres of land for the project, which will serve as a consolidated hub for manufacturing staples and its newly launched snacks business.
Aditya V Agarwal, Director at Emami, confirmed that the company intends to invest a total of ₹750 crore in its snacking venture, with the new facility forming a cornerstone of this expansion. The food park is expected to generate approximately 4,000 direct and indirect jobs, underlining its role as both an industrial and socio-economic catalyst for the region.
The company’s diversification strategy extends beyond staples and snacks, with plans to enter additional food categories such as sweets and bakery products. This move reflects Emami’s broader ambition to evolve into a comprehensive player in India’s fast-growing packaged foods market, catering to shifting consumer preferences and rising demand for convenience-driven products.
Emami is also preparing its agrotech arm for a public listing, with an IPO anticipated once the food business achieves greater scale and enhances overall valuation. The listing is expected to provide the company with fresh capital and visibility, positioning Emami Agrotech as a formidable competitor in the FMCG space.
The investment in West Bengal not only strengthens Emami’s manufacturing base but also signals its intent to build long-term value in the food sector. By consolidating operations and expanding into new categories, the company is laying the groundwork for sustained growth and a stronger market presence, while simultaneously creating employment opportunities and contributing to regional development.
