Prime Video has announced the exclusive global streaming premiere of Jailer 2, the highly anticipated sequel starring Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. Following a successful theatrical run, the action crime drama will debut on 12 November, reaching audiences in more than 240 countries and territories in five languages.
Prime Video has announced the exclusive global streaming premiere of Jailer 2, bringing one of Indian cinema’s most eagerly awaited blockbusters to audiences around the world. The action crime drama, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, will begin streaming exclusively on 12 November.
The sequel marks the return of superstar Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the retired jailer whose relentless pursuit of justice captured audiences’ imagination in the original Jailer. Building on the success of the first film, Jailer 2 arrives after a highly successful theatrical run in India and overseas, further cementing the franchise’s popularity among fans.
Set after the events of the first instalment, the story follows Muthuvel Pandian as he is drawn out of retirement when a powerful criminal syndicate threatens everything he holds dear. The organisation’s far-reaching political and international connections create a formidable challenge, forcing him to once again rely on his instincts, experience and determination to protect his family and restore order. As old enemies resurface and unexpected alliances emerge, the stakes are raised significantly in a story promising larger-scale action and heightened emotional drama.
The film boasts a star-studded cast, with special appearances by Mohanlal, Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Sethupathi. They are joined by an ensemble that includes SJ Suryah, Shivarajkumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidhya Balan, Ramyakrishnan, Namo Narayana and Yogi Babu, adding further weight to a production already carrying enormous expectations.
Speaking about the sequel, director Nelson Dilipkumar said the overwhelming response to Jailer inspired the team to expand both the scale and emotional depth of the follow-up. He described the affection shown by audiences towards Muthuvel Pandian as one of the most rewarding aspects of the franchise’s journey.
“The response to Jailer was extraordinary, and the love audiences have shown for Muthuvel Pandian has been one of the most rewarding aspects of this journey,” Nelson said. “With Jailer 2, we wanted to build on that special connection while taking the story, action, scale, and emotional stakes to an entirely new level.”
He also highlighted the significance of Rajinikanth’s return to the role, praising the contribution of the ensemble cast as well as composer Anirudh Ravichander, whose music has become closely associated with the franchise’s identity.
Following its theatrical success, Nelson said the move to Prime Video would allow the film to reach audiences across India and around the globe. With both Jailer and Jailer 2 available on the platform, viewers will be able to experience the complete story arc of Muthuvel Pandian in one place.
From 12 November, Jailer 2 will stream exclusively on Prime Video in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. The launch will make the film available to subscribers in India as well as in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, extending the reach of one of Indian cinema’s biggest action franchises to a truly global audience.
