Brown-Forman has announced the launch of The Glendronach in India, marking a significant expansion into the country’s premium and super-premium whisky segment. The Highland distillery’s core single malt portfolio — The Glendronach Aged 12 Years, 15 Years, and 18 Years — will now be available to Indian whisky enthusiasts.
Founded in 1826 in Scotland’s “Valley of Brambles,” The Glendronach is renowned for its dedication to sherry cask maturation. Produced in the north-east Highlands, the whiskies are matured primarily in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks sourced from Andalucía, Spain. This process imparts layered flavour profiles, with notes of dark fruit, spice, and oak complexity developing over extended maturation periods.
The India portfolio highlights three distinctive expressions. The Glendronach Aged 12 Years offers sherried autumn fruit, gingerbread, chocolate praline and orange peel. The Aged 15 Years brings maraschino cherry, walnut liqueur and dark chocolate mint. The Aged 18 Years, matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks, delivers stewed fruits, tobacco, and toasted walnut bread with a prolonged finish. All three are bottled with natural cask-imparted colour, reflecting the distillery’s traditional craftsmanship.
Crafted under the direction of Master Blender Dr. Rachel Barrie, who visited India as part of the launch, the whiskies embody The Glendronach’s heritage and artistry. Brown-Forman’s move underscores India’s growing appetite for premium single malts and strengthens the company’s foothold in one of the world’s most dynamic whisky markets.
