Netflix has launched the NextGen India Writers’ Program to discover emerging storytellers, offering mentorship and workshops to writers with up to three years’ experience. Running July to September 2026, the initiative builds on Netflix’s commitment to fresh voices, aiming to shape India’s next generation of bold, distinctive entertainment creators.
Indian storytelling is stepping onto its biggest stage yet, with Netflix unveiling the NextGen India Writers’ Program to discover and nurture fresh creative voices. Over the past decade, stories rooted in India’s diverse cultures and lived experiences have captivated audiences worldwide, and Netflix has been at the forefront of championing emerging talent. From Shiv Rawail’s acclaimed The Railway Men to Aryan Khan’s The Bads of Bollywood, and the upcoming Operation Safed Sagar led by Abhijeet Singh Parmar, Kushal Srivastava, Oni Sen and Mehboob Pal Singh Brar, the platform has consistently invested in distinctive storytelling.
India now becomes the third country, after France and the Netherlands, to host this global talent development initiative. The two-month hybrid programme, open to writers with up to three years of professional experience, will provide mentorship, workshops and hands-on guidance from industry experts. By its conclusion, participants will have transformed original ideas into professionally developed series bibles, learning how to shape stories from concept to screen.
Monika Shergill, Vice President, Content, Netflix India, emphasised: “Every great story begins with a writer. The NextGen India Writers’ Program is our way of discovering those voices early, investing in their potential, and giving them the space to develop their craft and bring their stories to life.” Applications are open from 1 July to 1 September 2026 via nextgen.netflix.net.
