Popeyes India has announced actress Rashmika Mandanna as its brand ambassador, unveiling its first television campaign in South India as part of a wider expansion strategy. The campaign, titled BORING vs BOLD, champions the idea of replacing conventional fried chicken choices with bold flavour experiences rooted in Popeyes’ Louisiana Cajun heritage.
Anchored by the message “Boring Hatao. Bold Ko Laao.”, the campaign highlights Popeyes’ distinctive flavour-forward offerings, encouraging consumers to choose boldness over routine. South India, currently the brand’s largest market, serves as the launchpad for this initiative, with Jubilant FoodWorks operating 48 Popeyes restaurants in the region.
Rashmika Mandanna’s strong youth connect and wide appeal are expected to enhance the brand’s cultural relevance and engagement with younger audiences. Her association aligns with Popeyes’ positioning as a bold and youthful brand. “I’ve always been someone who chooses what feels exciting and true to me… I am happy to partner with Popeyes as their brand ambassador as it’s all about choosing bold over boring,” she said.
Vibhor Gupta, Executive Vice President & Business Head of Popeyes India, described the campaign as a milestone in the brand’s journey. “Our focus remains on clear differentiation rooted in bold flavours and a youthful vibe. The campaign reflects how consumers experience Popeyes today – bold in flavour, youthful in spirit, and unmistakably distinctive.”
The campaign is supported by a 360-degree media rollout across television and digital platforms in South India, with phased national expansion planned in the coming months. Globally, Popeyes is renowned for its Louisiana-style preparation methods, including chicken marinated for 12 hours in Cajun spices. In India, its menu spans the signature Chicken Sandwich, fried chicken, wings, boneless options, and vegetarian offerings, all designed to deliver its hallmark bold flavour profile.
