TIJO JOSEPH: BUILDING BUSINESSES BY CONNECTING WHAT OTHERS SEE SEPARATELY

From a small village in Kerala to the boardrooms of Britain, Tijo Joseph’s entrepreneurial journey is a study in adaptability, vision and the art of connecting industries that others often see in isolation. Where many entrepreneurs dedicate their careers to mastering a single sector, Joseph, Founder and Chairman of TJ Capital Group, has built a portfolio that spans financial services, healthcare and residential care, property, technology and SaaS, professional services, hospitality, beauty and wellness, and consumer-focused ventures.

His approach is consistent: look beyond individual companies to understand how customers, people, capital, technology and services intersect — and identify opportunities that emerge in those spaces. That philosophy has been shaped by a career that began in Ayarkunnam, a village in Kottayam, Kerala, and took him through Jamaica, the United Kingdom and Canada before evolving into a multi-sector entrepreneurial journey.

After studying Hospitality Management in Bangalore, Joseph began his career at a five-star property in Kerala before joining Sandals Resorts in Jamaica, where he gained international exposure to multicultural teams and global standards of service. A subsequent role with Marriott in Cardiff reinforced his belief that successful businesses, regardless of industry, are built on people, service and trust. Returning to Kerala, he launched Headmasters for Hair, a premium luxury unisex salon, gaining first-hand experience of brand-building, customer acquisition and commercial responsibility. After selling the business, he moved to Canada to join the opening team of a five-star airport hotel, before returning to Britain — a move that would redefine his career.

At Hilton Stansted, Joseph had the foundations of a promising hospitality career, but he chose to pivot. Drawn to customer relationships and sales, he entered the UK’s regulated financial services sector as a Protection Adviser. The fundamentals of listening, trust and solutions remained familiar, but the industry opened new doors. At the same time, his hospitality background had exposed him to staffing shortages, particularly acute in health and social care. In 2018, he co-founded Care Crew Ltd, addressing workforce challenges through healthcare staffing and wider care services across the UK, including international recruitment pathways. Two months later, he established Ample Finance, marking the start of a broader journey in financial services.

The COVID-19 pandemic reinforced the importance of adaptability. Joseph recognised the resilience of the UK housing and mortgage sector, redirecting his expertise to create Ample Mortgages, an FCA-regulated brokerage. Care Crew continued to expand, and Joseph began to see opportunities not just within individual companies but in the connections between them. His questions shifted from “What company should we start next?” to “What happens before this service? What happens after it? What is missing in between?”

That thinking shaped TJ Capital Group, an ecosystem connecting finance, property, healthcare, technology and professional services. A mortgage customer is also part of the property market; a property transaction involves finance, surveys, legal services and technology. Healthcare organisations require staffing, property, technology and infrastructure. Joseph’s strategy is to connect these processes, creating efficiencies and opportunities. His portfolio now includes Arkke Capital, Friday Homes, ClearQuote, Junction Link and ReviewBee, alongside TJ Capital Group’s wider investments.

Across his ventures, Joseph has facilitated more than £250 million in financial transactions and created over 500 employment opportunities in the UK and internationally. His role has evolved from entrepreneur to business architect, bringing together expertise across industries to build structures where businesses scale through people. His philosophy emphasises intelligent growth — where enterprises become stronger because of the ecosystem surrounding them.

Recognition has followed. He was honoured at the British Parliament with the Outstanding Achiever in Multiple Industries Award and received the Global Indian Business Forum Award for Excellence in Multi-Industry Leadership in Zurich in 2025. Yet for Joseph, accolades are secondary to the institutions and communities built along the way. His leadership philosophy is clear: “True leadership lies in purposeful action, rigorous integrity, and long-term economic vision. At TJ Capital Group, our focus is not merely on building individual enterprises, but on creating sustainable, compliant institutions that connect global markets, empower workforce communities, and deliver enduring value across generations.”

Looking ahead, Joseph’s focus is on strengthening the ecosystem already created. Technology will play a central role, driving ventures that connect traditional industries, improve processes and open complementary markets. He also aims to expand TJ Capital Group’s international footprint, linking capital, expertise and opportunities across borders to create lasting economic and social value.

From hospitality to healthcare, finance to property, Joseph’s journey has been defined by recognising opportunities others overlook and connecting industries others see separately. For him, entrepreneurship is not only about what has been built, but about building what comes next.
