Hyundai Motor Company is transforming the in-car digital experience with Pokémon-themed dashboard features for select models. Animated start-up screens, character-inspired navigation and playful themes featuring favourites like Pikachu and Ditto turn everyday driving in the IONIQ 6, IONIQ 9 and Palisade into an interactive entertainment adventure.

Hyundai Motor Company is bringing a touch of playful nostalgia to the driver’s seat by turning the digital dashboard of its latest vehicles into a vibrant Pokémon-themed experience. Through a creative new interface concept, the carmaker is reimagining the in-car environment as an immersive entertainment space where drivers and passengers can interact with beloved characters from the world of Pokémon.

The initiative introduces themed digital experiences designed for models such as the Hyundai IONIQ 6, Hyundai IONIQ 9 and Hyundai Palisade. With character-led interfaces and animated graphics, the dashboard evolves beyond its conventional role of displaying navigation and driving data, instead becoming a playful canvas inspired by one of the world’s most recognisable entertainment franchises.

Among the standout features are custom themes such as “Pikachu Quick Attack” and “Ditto World”, which transform the look and feel of the vehicle’s digital displays. Start-up screens burst to life with animated sequences featuring the iconic electric Pokémon Pikachu, while interface elements draw visual cues from the shape-shifting charm of Ditto. These themed environments extend into navigation graphics and system icons, ensuring the Pokémon aesthetic flows seamlessly throughout the vehicle’s infotainment system.

The concept reflects a growing trend among automotive brands to turn the car’s interior digital ecosystem into an extension of lifestyle and entertainment. As vehicles increasingly adopt large touchscreens and connected software platforms, manufacturers are exploring ways to personalise the driving environment and engage younger, digitally native audiences.

For Hyundai, the Pokémon-inspired themes underline the brand’s ambition to blur the line between technology, entertainment and mobility. The immersive interface allows drivers to customise the mood of the car’s digital cockpit much like they would personalise a smartphone or gaming console, adding a layer of emotional connection to the driving experience.

The choice of Pokémon also taps into a multigenerational cultural phenomenon. Since its debut in the late 1990s, the franchise has grown from a video game series into a global entertainment empire spanning films, television, toys and mobile gaming. By weaving these characters into its vehicle interface, Hyundai is harnessing the enduring appeal of the brand while showcasing the versatility of its software-driven platforms.

As cars become more software-defined and connected, the dashboard is rapidly evolving into a central hub for both information and entertainment. Hyundai’s playful Pokémon themes signal a future where stepping into a vehicle could feel less like entering a machine and more like entering a personalised digital world on wheels.
