Award-winning Australian gin brand Four Pillars has launched ‘Expect Different’, a bold new masterbrand creative platform developed with Weave. Rolling out nationally from October, the campaign celebrates craftsmanship and creativity through theatrical filmmaking and tactile artistry, reinforcing Four Pillars’ position as one of Australia’s most distinctive premium spirits brands.
Four Pillars Gin, one of Australia’s most celebrated premium spirits brands, has unveiled a new masterbrand creative platform, ‘Expect Different’, designed to elevate its identity beyond individual products and reinforce its reputation for creativity, craftsmanship and innovation. Developed in partnership with independent creative agency Weave, the campaign will roll out nationally from October across out-of-home, social and digital channels, running through to February 2027.
At the heart of the campaign is a hero 15-second film that reimagines the familiar ritual of finishing work and unwinding with a quality drink. Through theatrical stagecraft, playful storytelling and hyperreal visuals, the film transforms everyday moments into extraordinary experiences. Recurring stagehands subtly shift scenes using physical sets, in-camera transitions and live performance, creating a sense of quirky luxury that reflects the role of a carefully crafted gin in making the everyday feel more special.
Dan Cookson, Executive Creative Director at Weave, explained that the creative approach was about bringing Four Pillars’ ethos to life in a way that felt proudly real. “At a time when our social feeds are increasingly filled with AI-generated content, we wanted to make a campaign film that was proudly real. So, we built sets, choreographed stagehands and created a series of theatrical transitions all cued within a single, unbroken camera shot. It makes the whole thing much harder to pull off, but that’s also its creative charm. You can feel the human craft in how it all comes together, which felt completely right for Four Pillars, a brand that has always cared deeply about how things are actually made,” he said.
The decision to use traditional production methods deliberately contrasts with the growing prevalence of AI-generated creative, celebrating tactile artistry and authentic filmmaking while reinforcing the handcrafted nature of the Four Pillars brand. Supporting out-of-home creative builds on the films, using stagehands and bold product imagery across portrait, ultra-wide and transit formats, including Sydney light rail wraps.
Amanda Bronesky, Marketing Manager, Spirits at Lion, said the new platform represents an important evolution in how Four Pillars communicates with consumers. “Four Pillars has always challenged convention through flavour innovation and creativity, but until now much of our communications have centred on individual products. ‘Expect Different’ gives us a long-term masterbrand platform that expresses everything Four Pillars stands for. Consumers continue to look for brands that surprise and delight them while delivering genuine quality. This platform allows us to celebrate our distinctive personality in a way that’s memorable, scalable and unmistakably Four Pillars,” she said.
The campaign comprises 15-second and six-second motion assets across YouTube and Meta alongside a comprehensive national out-of-home rollout. It further strengthens Weave’s long-standing partnership with Four Pillars Gin and establishes a flexible creative platform capable of supporting future brand activity across multiple touchpoints and product launches.
