The all-new Nissan LEAF has secured a place among the top three finalists for both the 2026 World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle awards. With aerodynamic design, advanced connectivity and an impressive driving range, the latest LEAF strengthens Nissan’s presence in the rapidly evolving global electric vehicle market.

The latest version of the Nissan LEAF has advanced to the final shortlist for two prestigious global automotive honours: World Car of the Year Awards and the World Electric Vehicle Awards for 2026. The all-electric model now stands among the top three contenders in both categories, highlighting its continued influence in the rapidly expanding electric mobility segment.

Developed by Nissan, the newest LEAF represents the brand’s latest step in refining its pioneering electric vehicle platform. The car combines aerodynamic efficiency with a modern design language intended to reduce drag and enhance performance, while its streamlined body shape is engineered to slip smoothly through the air, improving both efficiency and range.

Inside, the vehicle offers a connected and technologically advanced cabin designed to support seamless journeys. The interior integrates digital connectivity and smart features aimed at making everyday driving simpler and more intuitive for users transitioning to electric mobility.

A key highlight of the new LEAF is its improved driving range, which reflects the ongoing evolution of battery technology and energy management systems in modern electric vehicles. These improvements are intended to support longer trips while maintaining the zero-emissions promise that has defined the LEAF since its original launch.

The model’s recognition in two major award categories underscores the continued importance of electric vehicles in shaping the future of mobility. The World Car Awards programme is widely regarded as one of the automotive industry’s most influential global honours, judged by an international panel of automotive journalists.

Winners will be revealed during the New York International Auto Show on 1 April, where the LEAF will compete against other leading global models for the top titles. If successful, the vehicle could further cement Nissan’s reputation as a pioneer in the transition towards sustainable transportation.

For Nissan, the shortlist recognition signals strong momentum for the all-new LEAF as the company continues its push toward electrification and a future defined by cleaner, zero-emission mobility.
