SPOTIFY PREMIUM EXPANDS WITH LIFESTYLE REWARDS IN INDIA

Spotify has rolled out Premium Rewards in India, a limited-period initiative offering subscribers lifestyle benefits beyond music streaming. The programme includes discounts from brands such as MakeMyTrip, Nykaa, Tira, Ajio Luxe, Gully Labs and Airbnb, alongside exclusive invite-only music events, positioning Premium as a broader lifestyle membership.

Spotify is broadening the scope of its Premium offering in India with the launch of Premium Rewards, a programme designed to extend the value of subscription beyond the listening experience. The initiative, available for a limited period, introduces lifestyle perks that connect music streaming with everyday consumer choices, reflecting the platform’s ambition to embed itself more deeply into the lives of its subscribers.

At the heart of Premium Rewards is a curated set of benefits from leading lifestyle and retail brands. Subscribers can access discounts from travel platform MakeMyTrip, beauty retailers Nykaa and Tira, fashion destination Ajio Luxe, streetwear label Gully Labs, and global accommodation giant Airbnb. By partnering with brands across travel, fashion, and beauty, Spotify is positioning Premium as a membership that resonates with diverse consumer interests.

The programme also extends into the cultural space with invite-only music events and listening sessions. These exclusive experiences aim to strengthen the emotional connection between Spotify and its audience, offering fans opportunities to engage with music in more intimate and memorable settings. For a platform that has consistently emphasised personalisation and discovery, these events represent a natural extension of its brand ethos.

India’s streaming market has become increasingly competitive, with platforms vying to differentiate themselves through both content and added value. Spotify’s move to introduce lifestyle rewards reflects a strategic effort to enhance the perceived worth of Premium, making it more than just an ad-free listening service. By integrating benefits that touch on travel, fashion, and beauty, the company is tapping into aspirational consumer behaviour, positioning Premium as a lifestyle choice rather than a functional upgrade.

The timing of Premium Rewards underscores Spotify’s intent to deepen subscriber loyalty in a market where price sensitivity and choice are defining factors. While the initiative is limited-period, it signals a broader vision of Premium as a membership that evolves with consumer expectations, blending entertainment with lifestyle.

As Spotify continues to scale its India business, Premium Rewards may serve as a blueprint for how streaming services can expand their value proposition. By aligning music with lifestyle benefits, the company is not only reinforcing its relevance but also reimagining what a subscription can mean in the digital age.
