Vedanta Group has announced the appointment of Sonal Choithani as its new Chief Brand & Communications Officer, a move that signals the conglomerate’s continued commitment to strengthening its corporate identity and strategic communications at the group level.

Sonal steps into this leadership role with more than 20 years of rich and diverse experience in brand strategy, corporate communications, public relations, and reputation management. Known for her ability to build high-impact narratives that resonate across audiences and mediums, she has consistently driven integrated campaigns that span digital, print, broadcast, and on-ground experiential platforms. Her strategic efforts have not only elevated brand equity but also fostered deeper stakeholder trust, customer loyalty, and positive media visibility across industries.

Prior to this elevation, Sonal served as the Chief Brand & Communications Officer at Vedanta Limited for over five years, where she played a pivotal role in shaping the brand’s voice and enhancing its public image. She then took on a focused communications leadership position at Hindustan Zinc, one of Vedanta Group’s flagship subsidiaries, further solidifying her reputation as a brand custodian with a keen sense of market dynamics and internal alignment.

Sonal’s career has spanned multiple sectors—including banking and finance, FMCG, consumer electronics, manufacturing, renewable energy, and natural resources—giving her a well-rounded perspective on how to craft compelling brand stories that are both globally relevant and locally resonant.

In her new role, she will be responsible for steering the group’s brand transformation journey, leading communication strategy across Vedanta’s diversified portfolio, and aligning stakeholder perception with the company’s long-term vision of sustainable growth and purpose-driven business.

She announced the news of her new role on LinkedIn, “6 years, 3 roles, 1 Group. And the love for metals continues. Excited to step into my new role as Group Chief Brand & Communications Officer at Vedanta Group. I’m particularly excited about this role as we stand on the cusp of #Vedanta 2.0 – our evolution into a future-focused business built on critical minerals, energy transition metals, oil & gas, energy and technology.”
