Mars Pet Nutrition’s PEDIGREE brand has unveiled Healthy Belly, a new dog food designed to support digestive health in adult dogs. Backed by a campaign featuring cricketer KL Rahul and his pet, the launch introduces belly-shaped kibble and highlights the importance of gut well-being, sparking conversations among India’s pet parents.

Mars Pet Nutrition’s PEDIGREE brand has stepped into uncharted territory with the launch of Healthy Belly, a complete and balanced dog food formulated specifically for adult dogs. The initiative is accompanied by a marketing campaign fronted by Indian cricketer KL Rahul and his pet, aiming to raise awareness about canine digestive health and encourage pet parents to pay closer attention to their dogs’ gut well-being.

The campaign takes a refreshingly unconventional approach by spotlighting a dog’s bowel habits as a key indicator of digestive health. Through relatable everyday scenarios, it seeks to normalise conversations around pet digestion, a topic often overlooked despite its central role in overall wellness. By doing so, PEDIGREE hopes to shift the focus of pet care from general nutrition to targeted digestive support.

Healthy Belly has been developed with a blend of ingredients chosen for their digestive benefits, including pumpkin, sweet potato, chicken, egg, prebiotics and dietary fibres. Together, these components are intended to promote smoother digestion and healthier gut function. In a playful nod to the product’s purpose, PEDIGREE has introduced what it describes as India’s first belly-shaped kibble, designed to visually reinforce the digestive care message while offering a distinctive feeding experience.

The timing of the launch reflects a growing concern among pet owners about digestive health. According to an internal study conducted by PEDIGREE, 26 percent of pet parents who primarily feed home-cooked meals to their dogs reported noticing digestive issues. This finding underscores the need for specialised nutritional solutions that go beyond traditional feeding practices and address specific health concerns.

KL Rahul’s involvement adds a layer of relatability and star power to the campaign. His bond with his pet serves as a reminder that digestive health is not just a clinical issue but an everyday aspect of caring for a beloved companion. By combining scientific formulation with emotional storytelling, PEDIGREE is positioning Healthy Belly as both a functional solution and a lifestyle choice for modern pet parents.

Industry observers note that digestive care is emerging as a significant trend in India’s pet food market, which is rapidly evolving as owners seek products that mirror the quality and specificity of human nutrition. With Healthy Belly, PEDIGREE is not only responding to this demand but also shaping the conversation around gut health, reinforcing its role as a leader in pet nutrition innovation.
