SHANGRI-LA COLOMBO REIMAGINES TIKI BAR AS A VIBRANT AFTER-HOURS DESTINATION

Shangri-La Colombo’s Tiki Bar returns with a refreshed identity, blending Sri Lankan cultural elements with inventive cocktails and a relaxed social atmosphere. Featuring Raksha mask-inspired décor, a new menu, and a “Golden Hour” ritual, the space repositions itself as a dynamic hub for Colombo’s after-work crowd.

As the sun melts into the Indian Ocean and Colombo begins to unwind, Shangri-La Colombo has unveiled a renewed vision for its iconic Tiki Bar, transforming it into a spirited after-hours retreat that blends culture, craft, and community.

Perched high above the city with sweeping views of Galle Face and the ocean beyond, Tiki Bar has long held its place as one of Colombo’s most striking vantage points. Now, it evolves beyond a scenic rooftop into a lively cultural playground, redefining how the city gathers once the workday ends.

Central to its transformation is a compelling visual narrative. A dramatic wall of traditional Sri Lankan Raksha masks commands attention—bold, expressive, and steeped in symbolism. Historically used for protection and ritual, these masks now imbue the bar with a sense of mystery and vibrancy, shaping an atmosphere that is as immersive as it is distinctive.

This storytelling extends seamlessly into the newly curated cocktail menu, where each drink captures an essence of Sri Lanka. The Chilli and Passion Daiquiri balances tropical brightness with a lingering heat, while the Coriander Fizz introduces roasted spice into a crisp, effervescent profile. The Arrack Fashioned offers depth and richness rooted in local spirit, contrasted by the understated sophistication of a Whisky Highball, designed for long, unhurried evenings.

Enhancing the experience is the introduction of the “Golden Hour” ritual, inviting guests to linger with thoughtful touches such as a complimentary second serving on selected beverages. It is a subtle yet effective gesture that turns a casual drink into a shared moment worth savouring.

Yet, beyond its design and drinks, Tiki Bar’s true appeal lies in its atmosphere. It captures the rhythm of Colombo itself—where colleagues unwind into friendships, where conversations flow as easily as the cocktails, and where the city’s pulse blends with music and the changing hues of the sky. Whether catching a game or watching dusk fade into night, the space offers a sense of ease that feels both familiar and elevated.

In its new chapter, Tiki Bar does not simply reopen—it redefines its role as a place where Colombo comes alive after hours, inviting guests to slow down, stay longer, and rediscover the pleasure of the present moment.
