Subway has unveiled its new brand platform, Feed Your SUBconscious, created by MARTIN* and directed by Nick Ball via MJZ. Actor Will Arnett stars in a 60‑second film, embodying five personas that urge Americans to reject greasy, overpriced fast food and embrace Subway’s fresh, affordable, and satisfying alternatives.
Subway is telling Americans they deserve better fast food in a bold new brand platform from MARTIN, its creative agency of record. The Richmond‑based shop, which won the account in August 2026, has launched its first work for the brand with Feed Your SUBconcious*, a campaign that gives voice to the instinct that knows when consumers are settling for less.
At the centre of the campaign is actor Will Arnett, who transforms into five distinct characters in a 60‑second spot directed by Nick Ball via MJZ. Each persona embodies the inner voice that surfaces when hunger strikes or mealtime decisions loom, reminding audiences that they can choose better. Appearing in settings as varied as a drive‑through, sauna and garage, Arnett critiques overpriced smoothies, condemns substandard burgers and reduces protein snacks to dust, all while urging viewers to listen to their SUBconcious.
“Most advertising tries to convince people of something. This campaign begins with something they already know,” explained Jeff Klein, chief marketing officer at Subway. “They know when they’re settling for a meal they don’t really want and when lunch is about to become an afternoon regret. Feed Your SUBconcious gives that instinct a voice, with Will Arnett reminding people that Subway offers satisfying, freshly prepared food, made exactly how they want it, with value that makes the choice even easier.”
Arnett himself relished the opportunity to embody the inner critic. “If you know what’s good for you, you’ll listen to me, because I AM you!” he declared. “We don’t need to settle for a nap on a sesame seed bun or pay ridiculous prices for pond water. Let’s remember how much we crave delicious, affordable food that keeps us going … and go to Subway.”
The campaign positions Subway as the antidote to fast‑food fatigue, tapping into the universal experience of regret that follows a disappointing meal. By personifying the SUBconcious, MARTIN* and MJZ have created a narrative that is both humorous and relatable, with Arnett’s versatility ensuring each alter ego resonates with audiences.
As the platform evolves, audiences will become more familiar with the five characters, each designed to reinforce the message that better choices are within reach. The rollout spans broadcast and streaming television, streaming audio, digital and social media, in‑restaurant activations and other owned channels, ensuring the SUBconcious voice is heard across multiple touchpoints.
For Subway, Feed Your SUBconcious is more than a campaign; it is a strategic repositioning that emphasises emotional connection over functional awareness. By inviting consumers to listen to their inner voice, the brand underscores its promise of fresh, affordable food that satisfies both appetite and instinct.
